So I'm looking for a quadcopter that has gps, wifi, follow me, altitude hold a on board camera for fpv since I don't have a go pro and return to home, maybe auto take off and land too. I would like to fly over my cattle pasture and check on the herd from time to time and also look at the deer. Long range and good battery life would be a huge plus. I am a complete newbie so I don't want to spend a lot. What model or models would you recommend. Am I asking for too much options for a cheap drone to have? thank you

thanks guys. I could definitely do away with some of the options like follow me and probably auto land and stuff. The phantom 3 and 4 do look awesome but ive never even flown one of these things and don't want to wreck it right away. Figured id start out with a lower end one first and work my way up. don't want to start with a complete piece of garbage though.

Go for it, the Phantoms practically fly themselves!

Well let's see..........first.........a fifth of some high quality sour mash. If the urge to fly hasn't abated by the time you finish that..........then what you are looking for would be filled very well by the Phantom 3 or 4. But I would suggest you start with something a little less expensive. Myself I would recommend a Syma X8HG. Jackson would probably suggest the MJX Bugs 3. Either way you would be starting with something that has a similar aerodynamic configuration to the Phantoms.

You can get a syma 8xc on Amazon for $65. It has a fairly good camera for recording video or taking pictures, range of 100+ meters, and 10-12 minute flying time. If you break it right away, your not out major $$.

I can speak from experience on the durability of the X8s. I finally had to retire to the parts bin my first X8HG. It had multiple serious crashes(like one from 50+ feet) and about a dozen birdshot holes from a 12ga. shotgun from getting it out of trees where I had no other options................

Essentially, X8C has 2 MP camera and no altitude hold. X8HG has altitude hold and an 8 MP camera. The altitude hold is the air pressure type, so not nearly as accurate or stable as GPS altitude hold.

i'm a newbie as well, but i'm wondering, for people who are trying to survey/patrol a relatively large region, some of the other aerial platforms would be better choices?

wouldn't eg. an airplane model offer longer flight time and range, only losing the ability to stay in one location. there have got to be combination solutions with dirigibles or something for surveying. dunno. never done planes.
