Well did you fly today post videos here

Was waiting to see what features the Phantom 4 would have and how much it would cost. I deemed the extra £500 too much for the new features, so on Wednesday I bought myself a Phantom 3 Advanced. It really is a revelation how easy the thing is to fly, although I'm glad I've put the effort in with the small drones I've been flying up to now. It gave me a lot of confidence when 1st flying the Phantom. I can see though that flying it is one thing, making great videos is another matter. Flying smoothly, operating the gimbal at the same time, framing shots while on the move then converting and editing and timing shots to music are the things that really make for a great video.

Anyway here's my 1st video - plenty of rookie mistakes in it most notably the props and LEDs coming into shot.

Thanks for the list. Got a bit braver today with distance. Still only have a couple of flights recorded, so nothing much to cut together to make something else.
I must adjust the tilt on the gimbal to be smoother/slower. Also I dropped it to 480p again in the edit - D'oh!

More practising ;) "phantom"

Really enjoy watching your vids. Stunning scenery, and I admire your perspective and editing skills.

PS: One of these days I'm gonna ask you for more info on that Rubicon(?)of yours too (my wife drives a Hydro Blue '15 JKU)…! ;)

Thanks mang!

And the JK, kinda one of my old passions. That's my 10th anniversary Rubicon Expedition build, I Also have a 2003 first gen TJ Rubicon...she's much bigger than my little JK though ;). I used to do a lot of offroad stuff before I broke my back last year. Now my quadcopters serve as an escape from the chair, if not in body but mind and soul

Sorry to hear about your back, was it in an accident? I broke mine about 4 years ago - a stable fracture thankfully so I'm still mobile.

I broke my back in a bike race, went into a corner at ~50kmh and lost traction which sent me headfirst (T5 burst) into a tree on the side of the road. The told me that I'm actually quite lucky to have lived through that but I am stuck in my wheelchair for the rest of my life...life goes on though!

Life does indeed go on and this hobby makes it richer for all of us. I fell down a mine shaft and broke my foot and my back. Looking back I was so lucky that I wasn't more badly injured or killed, though at the time I felt it was bad luck to get hurt at all.

I started with FPV flying as a route to escape the chair for a while and it opened so many other things for me... I'd really like to try some FPV racing down the road, my skills just aren't quit there yet though.
