Video Editing Software

Hi Andy,

I have just noticed that you didn't get a reply which is totally not cricket.

I personally must have tried and used about half a dozen different video editing pieces of software. These range
from the high end stuff from Adobe down to the cheaper end of the spectrum. The high end software I find is
very expensive and just far too complicated .... well not complicated but too feature rich. Like Microsoft these
big company offerings seem to play feature/button wars adding endless features to act as market differentiators.
What you end up with is cumbersome, slow and difficult to use software.

Then there are loads of software platforms out there that just don't seem to quite work correctly - they are
unstable, crash and generally frustrate the hell out of the user.

I have been using an Video editing package from a crowd called AVS : http://www.avs4you.com/

They sell a whole range of software utilities which you can either buy individually or as a package for $59 for
a lifetime licence. I have been using the video editor for a while now and really like it ! It's not overly complicated
or covered in dozens of features you never use. You can do all the things one needs to do and the software does
the job and is very stable - well never had a crash.

It's not free but for $59 with all the other software included is very good value for money.

I am not connected with AVS in any way - just liked the software.

Cheers,

Dave

Magix movie edit pro 2014. It was about $100. It's okay I guess, I don't really have anything to compare it to. Windows movie maker is not that great. I have a gopro and the free editing software that they offer does well for others but I had problems with it. My requirements were to cut and splice clips together, add a soundtrack, add titles etc. It does all that and more. There's some cool fade options and other effects as well. It does not do time lapse but I downloaded a free program for that. I pretty happy with it, there are a bunch of tutorials on you tube for it too so that's a big plus.

Hi guys if you pop over to majorgeeks.com there are loads of free and share ware for videos , I my self at the moment are not doing a lot with videos , but seeing i just got my wife a Phantom for her birthday i will have to start LOL

I've been using Corel Video Studio for about six years now. I've been having trouble transferring files from my SD card to my HDD [transfer gets about half way and then craps out with 'File not found' or some such nonsense]. But if I open the video file in Video Studio I can open, edit and add a soundtrack with no problems. Then I save the AVI file as an MP4 for playback. The soundtracks I add like Pink Floyds 'The Gunners Dream' or the Stones 'Paint it Black' make it impossible to post them on YouTube, I have one strike already with them and don't want another. There are plenty of free to use tunes but most sound just like.. well free to use tunes. So I just create them and archive them... the family hasn't really caught the bug as I have and their glazed eyes when I say 'Hey I've got a new one to show ya!' just bums me out. But I'm retired and having fun. Tweaking the soundtracks I use the freeware Audacity to deaden the annoying whine n grind and to trim or adjust the soundtrack and then add the track to the timeline in CVS. Not sure if this helps... hey is that a glaze I'm seeing.... ;)
Cheers!

Hi all.
I have been testing and collecting free softwares for years now.
I use a number of free video editors, depending on what I need.
For adding soundtracks and general editing I mainly use Light works. For effects like fade in, swipe etc I use windows movie maker.
If I want to edit/mess around with a soundtrack I use Audicity.
If anyone ever needs any free stuff for whatever purpose just ask and I more than likely have it or know where it can be found.

Hope this post helps someone out :)

Hi mate have you got a link to some good video edit thats easy to use and that does not leave a logo arcross the video when its done thanks

i liked the look of that lightworks from a quick google, but the free version limited to mpegs at 720p is probably a bit limited, no ? And the pay versions are $$$ !

Sorry for the delay. Here is a few links to some free video editors, Audio editors and File converters. I use all of these myself.

Any Video Converter(Video file converter). You can use this to convert many files and also change audio qualities. You can also change frame rates too on video. - http://www.any-video-converter.com/download-avc-free.php

Audacity(Audio Editor) - http://sourceforge.net/projects/audacity/

Lightworks(Video Editor) I have sent the link so that you can download free or paid version. Free is restricted to 720p output though. - http://www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=102&Itemid=213

Free Studio(Lots of Free audio, video editors and converters) - http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/

Enjoy :) :)

On Linux I use either Openshot or for big projects I use Cinelerra video editor. Or if you use Windows I can suggest AVS video editor, it is free trial but VERY easy to crack and it works great.... not that I would be involved in, or condone such terrorist-communist like activities as pirating software.... ;)
