Syma X8W - Won't take off!!

I just finished assembling a new Syma X8W and it spins up, but won't lift off. Stock everything. It was not clear at all in the instructions about mounting the props, but they all appear identical, so I put them on. Am I stupid or what? Are there markings to orient the props correctly? Fresh charged quad battery, and RC controller. Ideas?

Am I doing something else wrong?

Rick

Edit. I see now there are rotating blades and reversing blades. Duh. Which is which?

Here's a general guide.

Here's a more complete manual.

The blades in the retail package... 3 were labeled A2 and 1 labeled A1. Go figure. A set of spares I purchased were labeled correctly. All is well now.

Thanks for the link to the 8G manual. Very similar to the 8W. The red text was conveniently left out of my manual just to confuse us newbies. :) No discussion or reference to A or B. How silly of me to think otherwise. ;)

Does A2 Sets means somethings ? i just plugged A>A B>B ... wrong ?
You don't need no stinkin numbers or letters, just learn to recognize the prop's leading edge and location.

Again the red arrows are pointing to the leading edge and also show which way they rotate.

I know that now! Your graphics very helpful. The blades in my retail packaging of the Syma were all identical. So, for a confessed newbie I was perplexed. I got it now thanks to your diagram and properly marked blades.

The above illustration will work for any colored props, you don't need green ones..............
Why don't quad designers just reverse the back 2 motors and use identical blades? Wouldn't the affect be the same? Wouldn't it be less confusing for the user? But, what do I know.

If they used identical blades on each side, it would just flip on it's side. If they used identical blades front and back, it would just spin around in circles. The reverse blades are often called "pushers" When a normal blade is spinning, it wants to spin your quad to the left. The "pusher" is pushing it to the right. With these equal opposing forces, the quad has nowhere to go but up. Unless your props are on upside down, then the opposing forces are just pushing your quad into the ground.

Thanks, your question solved my same problem = Made in China Instructions, are not for English comprehension, like Made in USA or CANADA, where instructions are aimed at new users, "Warnings" included as part of instructions - where all parts look the same and shipped as wrong sets (All A and all B as sets, and not 2A + 2B type sets,
so to avoid the wrong assembly from the start...)
