Suggestions on FPV kit

I'm currently flying a DIY 450 size quad with a Pixhawk P4 controller. Beginning to get the hang of it. I bought a $99 FPV kit to try that out, but it is absolute total junk. It's not even good enough to get a sense of what FPV is like. The picture is washed out for about a 3rd of the view around the center.

Can someone recommend a kit that includes goggles camera and everything needed to set up a quad drone? I would like it to be a mid range system with good video quality so I can get a good sense of what FPV is. Would also like it to be ready for head tracking when I get a pan and tilt gimbal.

My budget is up to about $400. I could manage $500 if someone convinces me that extra money would buy substantially better quality.

have you tried troubleshooting the components? see how other people are doing with that video transmitter and maybe there are common errors that can be righted. a blob of glue on the lens or something. i see a high rate of folks having to make some minor change to stock gear. after all, youtube is full of videos made with $5 camera modules et al...

The goggles are Eachine VROO7 Pro and I think they may be usable if I had a good camera.
The camera has no marking on it but it is low resolution and uv blinds it as does bright light. It doesn't handle light variances well at all. It is a tiny thing with a single 7-segment display on the back and a tiny mushroom antenna on the top. The only control on it is channel a select button.
