Rebuild 250mm quad................

dragger201

If it ain't broke, don't fix it??? You kidding?
Was given(for the cost of shipping) a ton of older quad parts and pieces. One is a 250mm QAV clone looking thing. The electrics are all state of the art..............two and a half/3 years ago. I fiddled with the Afro Naze 32(F1) with a no name pdb. Couldn't get it to fly, did all kinds of weird stuff when lifting off, so got a Matek PDB and an SPRacing F3 clone and it flys. Wasn't great but it did alright. So, I got some parts ordered(a bit at a time) Matek combo and new escs..........

It currently has DYS BE1806 2300kv motors. I've got one motor that's a little tweaky. And another complete set of the same motors, 2 years old and never used. Their tight(no slop) and turn very smoothly.

Now, my questions.............
Are these ESCs "dshot" capable?? And if so will they support "600"? Or do I have to do a bunch of weird poop before I can use them. Have not been able to find a definite answer and would like to find out with out taking the covering/heatshrink off of them.

Motors..............Not looking to set any speed records, but would like some that are pretty zippy and would work well with the Dal RC Prop Cyclone T5045C 5" . Even though I got that set of brand new motors, they are 2+ years old. So eventually I'll be needing a new set. So I'm looking for some suggestions that won't cost me my first born.............I won't be racing, just freestyling around the farm, playing chicken with my favorite tree and carrying a GoPro 3/4 clone action camera.

So any suggestions are being entertained, though I don't sing(well actually I do, but no one else calls it singing)...............

Stay on the dys till they gone. They OK on 4S. I got a 180 that I take out for some nosey ppl. It's a chunky frame I couldn't kill. Not very aerodynamic. But the dys I have on it where on a zmr250 with a sj4000 & had no problem on 6" props, doing acro. 1300mah lipo.
Sorry RENOV8R but I can't say I like the racerstar much. Had a few 11xx size with iffy magnets & wires with only 3 strands.
Very brittle for cutting & not a very strong connection. Others not been balanced.
Since the dys 1806 I have only used emax racerstar & Tmotor. The emax are the best upto now, by far. I didn't get to fly the Tmotor for long as they are at the bottom of a quarry that's about 100ft deep.
Purely pilot error,
If you are going to buy 4 racerstar you may aswell slap yourself in the back of your head & say, hey stupid for another $8 you can buy the emax or R5.
DYS just bought a new sanguk range out but not really wide spread yet.
UAV futures did a video about them & really like them.2204 2550kv
2206 2700kv, 2306 2600kv. Starting @ $10
I got spare emax but I will buy 5x2206 just to try.

Don't go any higher than 4s on them 30amp esc's with the dys1806, they can't take it. Esc's will be stone cold but the glue keeping the magnets in place can soften with the heat.

Thanks, Moz.............that's good to know. I don't know if I'll ever advance to anything higher then 4S..............but if I do it's gonna be awhile. And if I do, I'll be bach picking y'all's brains again..............

Them esc's are great though. I got mine covered in conformal coating & totally waterproofed with the pdb/fcb. I have to use an old soldering iron if I need to remove anything then reapply it. Everywhere is sodden this time of year so don't get out much, I'd rather not fly than have to clean mud out of everything or possibly kill components.
But the spring dewy mornings are no problem, I can get out early & not have to wait for the sun to burn it off. I have flew in the rain a few times, but not a whole battery charge.
