rc controlled off-road vehicle

Please don't hate me, not a quad-related query and I don't think we have an off-topic section to post in, but at least it's to do with rc and fpv...

So our place in Spain is rural and has very rugged land around it, and I was toying with the idea of getting an off-road car/truck/whatever to drive on it. Was thinking to put an fpv camera on the front, then sit on the porch and just drive it out of sight wherever I feel like.

It is *very* offroad, think ploughed fields, rocks, steep slopes, dirt tracks etc, so would need to be something large, independent suspension, tracks, or whatever. Also, I'd like it to be a kit, so I can have fun building it.

Anyone got similar experience, or any recommendations ?

Cheers

me want !

I can give you all the info you need on this, but I can tell you right away that FPV on RC trucks will NOT work. You can mount a gopro or whatever for video recording, but land-based RC's are dependant on LOS. Here's a pic of a 1/5 scale buggy I'm working on, PM me if you have any questions.

if you want a very popular off-road vehicle try the vehicles made by"Axial". Tower Hobbies is a huge online distributor of these vehicles. Perhaps an Axial Yeti XL will do the trick. But be forewarned fpv doesn't work well when there's trees blocking the tx signal. Like said above

thanks mate, actually Renov8r recommended the Axial Wraith frames too, but on balance I think i prefer this GMade frame, just on the styling really, so I've gone and ordered the following:

- GMade R1 frame
- https://www.amazon.co.uk/GS-5509MG-Torque-Throttle-Steering-Servo/dp/B009H0TZL4/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1465557987&sr=8-4&keywords=steering+servo steering servo
- https://www.amazon.co.uk/Castle-Cre...1&keywords=castle+creations+sidewinder+3800kv motor and ESC
- a couple of differently toothed pinions
and hopefully all the incidental bits and bobs I'll need too.

So a bunch of packages from various corners of the planet are on their way. It's for my birthday next month though, so can't fiddle with it all until then.

bumping an old post, I know, *and* nothing to do with quads, but I thought I'd post up a few vids of my rockcrawler in action.

It was great fun to build and really fun to drive !
