Radiolink AT9 to R6DS binding problem

I have an Eachine Wizard x220 ARF kit and plugged the r6DS to the UART3 spot on the fc.
I have the plug inserted into port 2 of the receiver (S.BUS output? Or so it says...), and cleared a new aircraft in the AT9 transmitter for it to bind to.
Betaflight 3.0.1 has been flashed on the fc, as well as the BLHeli_S ESCs. (I know there's 3.1 now but betaflight keeps timing out when flashing)
In Betaflight, Serial_RX is selected under UART3 in the port settings.
Serial/S.BUS is selected for the receiver in the other tab.

Every time I try to bind them, it seems to bind, but there's no control from the transmitter. I can't arm it, I can't do anything. It's like it won't communicate.

I've held the bind button, powered up the quad, red light flashes, then I turn on the transmitter... binds but not communication.
I switched the light to purple (S.BUS), shut it off and repeated the previous steps, same result.

I also switched the plug from port 2 to port 1 on the r6ds (PPM), and repeated the previous steps, same result.

What's going on?!

Also, I've swapped the rx to fc cable with another and repeated all the same steps and still get this result.

R6DS is not compatible with the AT9. When they released the AT9S, they made it so it wasn't backwards compatible. So you need an R9D to work with the AT9

R9DS is not compatible
Didn't he say.
plugged the r6DS

I stand corrected, you're right. I had it backwards, although the AT9S isn't backward compatible. The R9D & R6D won't work with it.

Yeah, according to that, along with a YouTube video, its supposed to work.

When I first bound it, it had communication, but I was accidentally still in my micro's settings and it bound to that. It armed but something didn't sound right, like the motors didn't spin in sync when throttling up, it was hard to tell if anything was wrong because it's my first mini quad. When I switched to a new aircraft mode, it would bind but not communicate.

Right now it's doing the same to the micro mode and not communicating (I checked out of curiousity, but am now only more confused haha).

I just want to start flying a mini and have some real power, this is so frustrating!

If it will for sure bind and communicate to another rx I will just buy that and shelve this one. I just added r6d to cart. *crosses fingers*

So the rx came in. Picture showed r6d, r6ds was unboxed. Oh well.

I hooked it up to at least see if I had a bad rx originally, only to discover the same results...

What is going on?!?!

This is driving me insane.

Any ideas?

hi,it seem i got same problem.using at9 with r9ds.
tried plug a servo in one of tge channel n the servo works!
bloody hating it cuz i am newbie here too!

For me the issue was resolved by using the correct I/O port, I had it in the wrong one the whole time, I had in the port that looked closest to the UART3 label, but that was wrong... hope that helps

My understanding is that the AT9S will NOT work with the older R6D or R9D receivers
BUT the older AT9 WILL work with the newer R6DS or R9DS receivers (and of course the R6D and R9D)
