QAV210 build

Hi folks! I'm new here, obviously, and somewhat new to the world of DIY builds.

I've always been the type that learns faster hands-on, rather than reading first. Obviously, it was a true trial by fire, but I managed to build a QAV210 with zero knowledge of, well, anything going in. I got a crash course in everything from LiPos to flight controllers to ESCs - the works! Obviously, I have a lot to learn, and in hindsight I probably should've done my research before diving in.

A brief rundown of the parts

Flysky FS-i6 TX /ia6b RX
Naze32 rev6 FC /cleanflight
2000kv motors
25A blheli ESCs
4S 1600mah battery
FPV camera / TX

I had major problems at first, it would flip/flip/spin upside down each time I attempted lift off. Turns out I got the build right, but didn't properly adjust the orientation of the flight controller. Fixed that, and got of the ground, sort of - lots of sway, etc. Movement wasn't steady at all, I couldn't get it to hold steady. To be honest it was just too much power for me as a complete newbie, and the damn thing scared me, so I put it away for months. Now I am feeling a bit daring, and want to try again.

The issue I have is that the moment it lifts off the ground, it sways from left to right, sort of like a pendulum. A few feet to the left, then center, then a few feet to the right. I am unable to steady it at all. It's worth noting that I did not change anything really in the cleanflight settings. I calibrated the ESCs, and that is about all.

I would appreciate any insight you may have, or just nudge in the right direction.

Welcome to the forum. When you say it's swaying from side to side, are you trying to correct it or is it doing it on it's own without moving the stick. BTW, to help you out, we're going to need more info on your setup

Thanks for the welcome!

I'm not moving the stick, it starts swaying when I throttle up to lift off, without touching the other stick. Though I have tried to steady it, to no avail. I'm not entirely sure what you need as far as my setup goes? I'll provide any detail you need.

What instructions did you use to set up the Naze32? Did you do a gyro and accelerometer calibration? Also, do you have the flight modes set up to a 3 way switch, and what flight mode are you using?

On the hardware side, it was pretty self-explanatory. On the software side, much of it was also self-explanatory in Cleanflight. I did calibrate the gyro, and accelerometer as per the instructions in CF. I bound "arm/disarm" to a switch on TX. I did nothing with PID. I did test to be sure the controls were configured properly.

Beyond that, I don't recall changing anything else (though it has been a few months).
