Hey I am pretty new to this forum and don't know much about it
I just want to ask about the ground plate beside the antenna on the transmitter of toy drones i.e Syma X5C
I planned to do a range mod on my drone transmitter as it has a very poor range
While searching on youtube for range mods of syma X5C (my drone is very similar to it) I found that they remove the original antenna of the transmitter and solder a wifi antenna from an old router. Also They connect it with the ground plate named "GND" which is beside the antenna plate.
So I got excited after seeing those videos and opened up my transmitter and unfortunately found that there is no ground plate just the antenna.
So my main question is what is the function of that ground plate and is it really necessary?
Also can I use 125 mm wire instead of wifi antenna to do the mod?
One last question My drone transmitter has just 3 cells Instead of 4 like on other transmitters. Is it going to affect the range? After doing the mod?
