Hi, quick intro, I am 72 and have been interested in RC stuff for a long time with someperiods of absence. My brother got me going again with drones. not sure about others but I believe many companies are only interested in selling their products and their customer service is rubbish. I like to fix and build all sorts of drones so I am always looking for parts. I recently got a couple of 250 semi racing frames( my description) so I gathered motors, esc’s ect ect to do a build. In my research I came across KK2 fcs and liked the principle. So bit the bullet and ordered three, (there were no instructions)assembled the gear( using a tgy i6 tx and rx) found a good utube site and presto all looked good, got the active sign, hit the throttle??? And only three motors were active. Ok, pulled it down, resembled, put in other Kk2s .Same result. Back to research, to MAYBE fix you need to download this, this, and this, buy this and then do this. What the hell ( I am being polite)Surely they shouldn’t be selling faulty parts in the first place. After many emails the company told me they would give me a $20 refund and I could keep the Kk2s WHOOPIE. My build has been put aside for now, just got a very interesting fix, a under and over octo. This rant over

That's a good reason for me not doing builds. I'm all thumbs anyways with the hardware, so I buy all built and ready to fly only. May be a cop out, but then at least it gets off the ground the first time.

Hi check it's set up for quad not tricopter , did all the ESCs calibrate ok if not calibrate each esc in turn on motor one pins ,is it the hard case KK with out screen and did you get the small LCD screen
I don't know if you know you can flash the KK with much better firmware than it comes with

Hi, thanks for your reply holtneil, I received no instructions at all, seems to be a common problem with other fcs. I was able to get a very good utube to set one up. One of my fixes has a mini Kk2 and it goes well. I did the research on how to fix this issue. It goes as I have said previously. All of which you require a pc. Go out a buy a new pc with Windows 10. Then you find you need to this, this and this to even start the process and you require a flash tool. And there is no guarantee that it will work.I do have a tri that I will try and use one then. I don’t intend to build three. My argument is they are faulty and the fix should be done by the seller who should be in a better position to do the fix. Just another thing I got four motors to go on the octo setting. Not game to and fly on that.

Hi LoneRCRanger, I have always like building RC gear. I once built a large 4x4 truck using a whipper sniper motor, that was back in the crystal days. That went like hammers of hell. My interests have always been building and fixing but in today’s tech stuff it is a different learning curve. But I have become very aware of the shonky parts being sold.

Throw those KK2 boards in the trash and get an airbot F4 V5 flight control board and enjoy 100s of very stable flights!

Thanks Dugdog, I will I have a look at that one, I just like the idea of not having to go through a whole lot of rigmarole of having to use a PC to configure the damn things, for the bigger quads hexas and octos ok but the smaller quads .Especially the issue with Windows 8 and 10. I have a old very slow windows 7 that I am trying to clean up to make it faster that works fine. I have decided is I will not buy any flight controller that doesn’t come with instructions. Good to talk to you guys.

Order from getfpv.com they include printed instructions with their boards, yes you will need the betaflight interface on a windows computer and you'll have to install drivers to make that work but once you figure it out you'll realize these amazing aircraft are completely tunable, customizable, agile machines.

It's a steep learning curve but well worth it in the end.

I use an omnibus F4 based board from racedayquads and works fine. There is the initial learning curve of using betaflight, but it works across platforms as far as I know so should be all good on mac or linux as well (think someone may have even ported to android). Basically the issue is manufacturers have no idea what receiver you're going to hook up or other peripherals so to keep things flexible the FCs usually require some "programming" or configuration really to let them know what signals to expect on what ports/pins and which channels map to what input (throttle, yaw, pitch, roll).

There are a ton of videos and walkthroughs about betaflight on YouTube but I get where you're coming from it's super overwhelming at first if/when you just want to fly the damn thing, the payoff is once you figure it out it only takes like 20 minutes to run through configuring it the second time and you can get in and really customize the feel of the quad and what your switches do (also what you see on on screen display).

^^ Joshua Bardwell always comes out with new videos for betaflight updates to explain new features or what's been dropped in newer versions.

As far as bunk hardware goes it does happen sometimes but buying from racedayquads or getfpv or other known good vendors you're more likely to get parts that go through quality control and aren't causing issues for users (or they'll get pulled from stock).

I agreed with the guys on here the KK is a very old now and a basic board they work well if you have all you need to set up . Ask for a refund and send them back to sell. Now days you should have a pc to hand to set up with the leads you need too . A newer board will give you so many more functions

What FW does your KK2 have? The original FW is pretty useless. One like this comes with Steveis' 1.17S1 Pro.

Although it's a tri, this guy sure can make his KK2 dance.

Jackson do you know what motors he has its nice and response
I believe he's using SunnySky in that vid. One thing to keep in mind that his rigs are very light.

I understand where the OP is coming from, to be able to do quick tweaks right at the field is quite handy.

Your right my friend i know they are 1400kv , my KK is in a hard case so I use plug the programme screen in when I need it
