Hi mate I think in the UK we get stuffed on prices ,take the USA most items are far cheaper , but if you get from the USA your stuffed on customs so we get left with China and they know that , but if anything goes wrong we get stuffed yet again , I do what you do try and get local if not I use ebay as if any thing goes wrong e bay and paypal step in , does not work all the time , I get items from Hobby king but they have different rules for different countries so you can get stuffed here too as the UK ware house only has half the items for sale as the Global warehouse which was ok as we had direct to UK shipping but thats now gone too so guess what were stuffed there a lot of this getting stuffed going on , after reading this I think what would be good is lists of shops and web sites and or links , were you get looked after and in what country they are in and where they will ship to
Another thing thats going on to is you buy a quad frame and then crash you cant get parts if they sell the frame they should be made to carry spares for that frame too
If you guys want a section where you can post shops and links then just let MM, George or me and we can get this set up

HobbyKing - after the fiasco with the Syma I sent looked at HK as a source- especially as I saw they had an "Au" store.
I think what they mean is... we have a guy in a newspaper kiosk who holds a bit of stock - I cannot be wrong because whenever I look at buying something...its not in the Aus store. I bought a cheapo Turnigy 5channel radio - cost $32.50 shipping from "Global Store" - $19.90.
Turnigy 9xr type radio shipping is us$45

I think what would be good is lists of shops and web sites and or links , were you get looked after and in what country they are in and where they will ship to..

I started this in my website - gave up because basically apart from the known trio of bandits - even the so called reputable websites/sellers can just as bad at times.
FoxtechFTP - supposed to sell only genuine products - again shipping is high* . I ordered a set of DJI motors. Their tracking showed they never left China...but I had to wait 2 weeks over estimated delivery date. But in fairness - the sent out 3 day DHL and gave me a $25 gift coupon.

Here is my shopping guide.

EverBuying - GearBest- Tiny Deals - one business - proved! No auto refund to PP or payment source - you get store credit. Proved to send out previous "repaired" returns.
That said I used a credit to buy a set or Mars motors - arrived in 10 days and no problems with the motors - which are identical to DJI 2212 920kv

BangGood: I use these for most of my gear now. They cancelled an order- no stock - refund to PP. I cancelled an order- they refund to PP no arguments - just a three day process wait.
One order never arrived - they did not even want to resend - no stock they said - they did a refund to PP.
Orders take the usual 2 - 3 week slow boat - unless you pay more.
What I have found is - take Emax 30a SimonK ESC. Emax charge $9.34 a set of 4 plus shipping - (which is the same BG "Free shipping - ChinaPost) cost me $48.11 BG charge $11.60 each and free shipping but add $1,80 for insurance or tracking... and do the maths...

EmaxModel: Not much to say about them - covered above - but I put a support ticket in 18th December 2015 .... got a reply today!
last ordered another 4 ESCs - China psot so a 2 - 3 week wait.
A note on the first set... I had a lot of problems - but assumed most being because I am new and stupid with quad building.
These ESC are programmable - I had to send off to BG for the card reader gizmo...wait weeks fro delivery and when I checked - 1 ESC was set different to the other three, - corrected that and problems went away!

HobbyKing: As seen above - may be OK if you are in the USA. To me as bad as any other Chinese store - but do get the odd low priced item.

FoxtechFTP: as stated above - I f they have what I want - I would use them again - they do seem to deal only in genuine gear.

eBay: You all know the good and the bad..
Qiqihobbyboy - avoid buying motors - check FB
Yigounet - lipo's - PP - payments go to HASSAN - who is involved/owns EveyBuying etc,. Seller supposed to be in Sydney - but a battery came from China and 2 weeks over EDD. One battery charged up low - discharged it - set a balance charge... lost the cell! Claimed a faulty item... got a refund... and blocked! More I think because I wrote them chapter and verse about being robbed by EB - Hassan refused refunds etc,.... We are not Hassan - dont know him... not here came back. So I asked how come he just made a refund if he you don,t know him! That's when got blocked!
Actually found better batteries around similar price at...it hurts...HobbyKing!


I urge everybody to request a section where we can collaborate to for a good guys list and a plague ship to avoid list!

I started this thread some time back now.....as you will know now after reading from my original opening post - I did keep on and eventually got - to me - a result in that I gained overall more than I actually paid to the store. Yes it took dogged determination to get a result.
While I - in general - share your views, other do not and are entitled to their opinions. My wife shares HDs outlook and more than once quipped that I spent more time writing "support" tickets to the store than I did on anything else.

There is another outlook - we in "the West" have had consumer laws for generations - China has not and its their way of trading. Even mighty mega rich DJI are pathetic on customer relations and after sales service. But buying outside China and we get our countries consumer law warranty - usually 12 months - with conditions. Not all the Chinese stores are as bad as the mini group I purchased from. FoxtechFPV are OK... a not delivered order was replaced and I also got a $25 gift token for my inconvenience. I have used EmaxModels, BangGood, and HobbyKing - of which I am not a fan and use only if they have items I want in the Au store.

The "keep at um" attitude is OK for you and I it seems... but as my wife says to me....for what money is involved - is it worth the weeks of being focused on getting a few $$ back? I accept others - as is their right - do not have the time, patience or will to flog a dead horse....

I realised after I posted to the chap who would just give up that its an older thread.
My point was really that if we give in to certain dubious Chinese ways of business they will continue to act in an irresponsible manner and send items not up to standard in the knowledge westerners will buckle.
Any Chinese companies who deal with honour needs to be publicised on these forums really and the above ones will go down on my list of suppliers.
I have had dealings with three Chinese companies so far and they have been excellent to whom my business will continue to flow.
With dogged determination most companies will bow to decency in the end.
Emails cost nothing and the time and effort you must agree is minimal in securing a return of, possibly not huge amounts.
No I am not English from Kernow.

I am on your side - as my original post ( and others) and follow up shows...
I do believe BangGood are changing their old ways - although some will get a delivery of an item that does not meet expectations or is just plain defective.
BUT - some others will never change willingly. Take GeareBest/EverBuying?Tiny Deals. I did a web source check months ago - all owned by the same people.
Why would they need three outlets IF they were dealing - to western standards - honestly? They know that they will pig some of and rob them by sending defective stuff out. That victim - like I did - will look at another store. The average buyer is not going to know how to track them down and find out who owns the website. So they need buy something to test the store - or check feedback and reviews.
With EverBuying I put in a negative review - they simply ignored it and never put it online. So people will only see 100% positive reviews - which I and others can prove are bought reviews - they offer anything upto 1500 points for some external reviews and lesser amounts for product reviews.
SO the unlucky punter who was gypped by EverBuying will see an ad for GearBest.....and Hassan and co get more $$$ in their bank account.

The sales figures for these products out of China/HK/Malaysia and the Philippines is joining in - show they have a willing market.
Even Myers are selling quads now - Jaycar etc so the Chinese stores will be raking it in for years to come - or until the next must have gizmo hits the market...

BTW - that's not a rant - its just an opinion being stated!

I just bought this brand new. And the flight controls are inverted.


The drone spins fine left and right.

The right stick is completely inverted. Moving stick forward makes drone fly back. Moving stick back makes drone fly forward. The drone also is opposite on left and right straffing.

Please hep, I've tried resetting it, nothing seems to work.

I build rc trucks and I've seen similar issue with this. But I am mind boggled

May I start by advising - "drones" are what military use to kill people at worst - to photograph locations at best.
"Drones" is a term the media use for drama where there is none.

Most - including me prefer to use "quadcopter" or as they come with more than 4 propellers - "MultiCopters".
I take it you are saying you bought a Syma - can I add - if you have read this thread from the start - you will know that Syma revised their radios some time ago - the only visible change was that they went from orange and white - to red and white. A batch of the latest are known to have fault issues with the Modes 1 and 2.
Mine showed mode 2 - but in fact the sticks were mode 1. I discovered this simply by giving up on what I thought was a faulty set up in Mode 2 and tried mode 1 - to find it was actually mode 2!
If you understand the different stick movements of each mode - ignore the readout and use the stick movement and results with the quads movements to decide which mode you have.

IF it is a Syma and been bouncing its way from China - you will be advised to reset the Gyros and when you can get it to hover reasonably well... use the sliders to trim for better stability. The manual should tell you how to sort the gyros - if not - unless somebody pops here with the info ( I forget and rather than think I know and give you bum info) - search online for Syma X?? reset Gyros.
You need to give the model details and version if known - where you got it...etc,.
Until we know exactly what you have - "I've tried resetting it, nothing seems to work." resetting what?? we need more info.

This is america, and in America we call these "dronez" not "quadcopters" sorry to burst your aussie bubble, but u shouldn't ever make anybody feel stupid if u r trying to help them. U might have a little knowledge on these, but you lack the skill of knowing how to talk to someone and give respectful solutions which u did the complete opposite from.

Also Drone is a word that got stuck on these quads a drone is a male bee or a un-manned machine that fly around spying on baddies and blowing them up , we fly quads or multirotors No we dont like the word Drone and if the site is called Diydrones its because the site DIYQUADCOPTERS has gone already

@holtneil what do u mean make sure the "quad is the right way round if all axis are back go front" I have no idea how to understand that phrase. Can you please speak in lamens terms, because I didn't understand it. My copter Flys opposite, how do I fix it??

OK make sure you looking at the back of the quad when you try and fly it ,if you look at the front its called nose in and all axis will be backwards
This quad has headless mode if you turn this on No matter which way it is facing the controls will be normal it this and come back to us

Hi headless mode is Chinglish for IOC =
Intelligent Orientation Control
so what it does is the quad knows where the transmitter is and how its facing when you power the quad up , Now when you push the cyclic stick forward the quad goes forward ,but if your nose in the transmitter then know this and thinks the operator want to go forward even tho the quad is backwards so it makes the quad go forward
Normally if you nose in and push forward the quad will come to you not away from you

I'd strongly suggest against using headless. It makes your right stick control the quad relative to the position it was when you armed it.

Basically if you arm it (facing the same direction as you are) and take off, then yaw left (turn left) so that the quadcopter is facing left and you are still facing forward. If you press the right stick forward instead of the quadcopter going forward relative to it (your left) it will go to it's right (your forward).

This becomes a crutch to the point where you don't learn to keep your orientation.
