New KingKong et125, I cannot get it airborne and it's incredibly frustrating

My little brother set it up earlier and flew it just fine, but after an hour one motor quit working. I did some research and downloaded betaflight. We hooked it up to the drone and now nothing's working. After several YouTube videos, here s what I've tried:

  • Reset the controller's connection to the receiver (Taranis QX7). Its green light is flashing, but I think that connection s the problem somehow

  • My little brother thinks it's because when I opened betaflight, I clicked "reset settings" without backing it up. Was that the problem?

  • I set it up to UART 1. I don t know if that's correct.

  • Under "configuration," I set "receiver" to "IBUS"

  • When I go to "receiver" and play with the Taranis, none of the meters move like they re supposed to.

Is there any other way to troubleshoot this? I m a noob at drones and no hobby shop in town seems to know anything.

Or even if there's somewhere I can go to get an answer...

You are looking in the right places. First thing would be to make sure given your receiver it is showing that the binding was successful if the signal isn't getting into the receiver from the transmitter then there's no hope of it getting anywhere else. Regarding the UART to choose this just depends on which port on the FC you connected the signal wire from the receiver to if you list or link your FC and receiver can try to give further tips. If you fiddle with the serial rx on ports and configuration for receiver you may stumble on the right combo but if I can find the manuals can probably sort it out from there as well.

Thank you.

The receiver is a constant green light. But when I go to betaflight and the "receiver" tab, it doesn't register when I move any of the joysticks. And nothing moves when I move anything on the controller.

But when I turn on the controller, the receiver turns green. So it for sure recognizes it...

SBUS, got it, stupid thing reads my controls now.

Only 3 motors are spinning though. Any ideas about that?
In Betafight - configuration tab - top right corner - set your set your ESC/motor protocol to DShot 600 and see if that fixes it. If not, you may have to try reflashing the firmware in your ESCs

Also to be sure it's not some weird input issue or something can use the motors tab to drive them up individually, if one isn't working things to check are the signal wire from FC to the ESC, the connection between the ESC and motor (3 phase wires) and finally try swapping the motor over to another ESC to see if it's the ESC itself (assuming the signal to the ESC was connected and working fine).
