My Tarot 650 Sport Build

I thought that I'd document the build process I went through with my Tarot quadcopter. Yes, this is the one that I had trouble getting the landing gear to retract, as well as using the AR8010T receiver. All issues have been resolved except for one minor problem: I need to calibrate the roll motor on the gimbal as the horizon is not horizontal. I have to search some older YouTube videos to learn how to do that.

Also, I haven't yet flown it with the landing gear retracted - I crashed my Elev-8 and destroyed the battery pack, but I have a new one on order.

Thanks! I just went through the procedure for fixing the gimbal roll adjustment - won't know for sure if I fixed it until I fly it, but seems to be okay holding the aircraft and moving it about by hand.

I ordered a 7" Eachine diversity receiver/monitor from Amazon as well as a small GoPro attachment that has a thumbscrew for mounting the monitor to my Spektrum transmitter using a GoPro mount:

I am looking forward to trying it out!

I could not get video from the aircraft. After a fair amount of troubleshooting, I decided that the vtx was bad and so I ordered another - a 600 mW unit (I wanted more range anyway). When it arrived and I wired it up, I still could not get video.

The Feiyu-tech gimbal is made to minimize loose wiring, so there is a connection from the GoPro camera to the gimbal and a connector in the back that has leads for power, ground, gimbal control and video. I could not get video out - even replaced the lead but no joy. So, I decided to bypass the gimbal altogether and fabricate a connection direct from the camera to the vtx - success!

I have a separate small 3s lipo that I use for powering the gimbal and vtx and I let the voltage get too low and I cannot recharge it. So I will have to buy a new small 450 mAH 3s lipo. Meanwhile, a new 6S lipo for powering the aircraft is on its way so I hope to have it flying again in a couple of weeks.
