Just ordered an armattan cf 258 diy kit
I would like to start and say hello my name is Jesse and to everyone thank you all in advanced.

I just purchased an Armattan cf 258 diy kit (after a lot of research and comparing of options)
I originally was leaning twards a Blade 200 qx I wanted a brushless quad. It was amazing to find this kit. I feel this is better built better, faster, stronger and all around alot better looking. Best of all it cost basically the same, and I get the pride of knowing I built it.
So on to the real questions for you guys/gals
first and foremost I need to get a decent quality transmitter / receiver
I never had to get a tx/rx for my beginner quads, my lhs guy lead me to the spektrum dx6 Mode 2 (left stick throttle) and told me about the orx 6 channel receiver. I will also want to add a led to each corner that can possible be turned on or off with the controller, if this makes it an issue I can wire them to a switch myself and sort it out that way.
If you guys have any suggestions or better options let me know

next, this will come after I get used to this quad flying line of sight.
whats a good camera that can later be used as the fpv camera as well? I've heard of the mobius, go pro of course and a few others but I don't know anything about them and if they work with fpv. next what is a fpv setup for a smaller quad, I'm leaning twards fpv googles/glasses compared to a screen on my controller. fpv will come after I get it going well and used to it.

If i do say so myself this is the best looking quad I've ever seen, best of all its carbon fiber frame and all carbon fiber parts are lifetime warranted even against user error/crashes.

oh how I cannot wait for this... I am going to take my time and build it to the absolute best of my abilities.

Thanks for reading, Jesse

Take a look at the eachine 250 or the Robocat. See what you think, they may be a little more than you are willing to spend just yet.

Apparently Spektrum is a couple decades out of date. When I ordered my first real quad I rushed to hobbytown and picked the best they had a DX6i before researching it as much as I should have and the search I did do was for the a DX6. It works fine but I do feel a little cheated, though it was no fault of Hobbytown.

After doing a lot more research, the DX6i ($125) works as advertised and has bundles of extra features I am still trying to learn, the DX6 however has telemetry and all sorts of extra features, like voice feedback, runs off of a LiPo battery and more.

However, instead of buying the AR600 ($50) buy the Hobbyking Orange box receiver, much cheaper and works just as well.

As far as other transmitters, there is a cheap Chinese Turnigy X9 (9 channel) transmitter for $50, but reading reviews it seems like I need to solder in resistors and re-solder a lot of wires on the base board, which at this time I am not comfortable with. I have not done any further research on other transmitters. I'll stick to my DX6i until I find a need to change.

EDIT: Forgot to add, I like the looks of that frame, I'll look into it when I have built and mastered my own.

EDIT 2: Also forgot to add about FPV. I do not have experence with this yet, but as the other two did not mention it I will tell you what I learned from others.

You do not want to use a mobius or GoPro for FPV. I found two reasons for this. First is with digital camera's there is a bit of lag (~100ms) that the pro's think is enough to cause crashes or missed markers when going at 55mph. The second reason is they do not adjust to light/dark fast enough when going under a tree or from a building to outside.

What they go for is analog security camera's. The most suggested one I found is 600TVL SuperHAD II FPV camera with WDR from Surveilzone.

Before you get into FPV make sure you understand the frequencies (2.4, 3.3, 5.8 ghz) to get the best for your needs. In addition learn about cloverleaf antenna's, right and left polarization, what receiver you want and lots more.

Thanks for the replys
After reading your comment cobra I just watched a handful of videos about the turnigy x9 and bought one. Hobbyking.com didn't have any 3s battery's in Stock that would do the 35c required for the quad. So now all I need is to wait till Friday (payday) to buy a battery or two and I should have the kit by then.

I'm going to look into the fpv lag with the mobius more. I was looking to record flights and hopefully use whatever I got (mobius or go pro) for fpv later.
Thanks again, Jesse
