my esc connection question

so ive already connected the esc to the motor, i found that part easy, but on the other end as you can see in the picture, the middle part is just two wires(black and white) in other videos ive seen that other escs have 3 wires in the middles part (brown yellow red), does that mean i have to make an extra connection or can i just go ahead and connect it to the flight controller? and also, since the colors are different i have no clue what orientation it should be when i connect to the controller (i have a CC3D atom) so which side should face inwards and which outwards?

White goes to signal, and black to ground.

OPTO esc is with 2 wires. (Yours)
BEC is with 3 wires.

You can just plug in those 2.(black to (-), white to (S).

BEC esc is when you want to power your FC with esc.

You will need a UBEC to power the FC which then powers to RX.

so im building a quadcopter does that mean i need to get 4 separate UBECs or just one for all 4 escs?
also my escs are 12 A what kind of ubec do i need?

One ubec it powers rx and fcb. As far as I know they are always 5 volts. At least thats how all mine have been. I guess you could read up on the specs for your rx and fcb to make sure.
