Losing control of Syma X11 - how to resolve?

Several times today my little X11 stopped responding (intermittently) to input at short distances like 30 and 40 yards. It occurred during two different battery changes and transmitter restarts. I was also taking turns flying my Syma X5C-1 and using the exact same transmitter and everything worked fine.

How do I figure out if this is the X11 failing and needs to be replaced or if there is some corrective action I can take? I really like this little quad and hope I can fix it.
 
The only things I can suggest are firstly, check your antenna for any damage and proper connection at the board and secondly that your battery is charging to a proper voltage. Beyond that, it's probably easier to just replace it.
 
From the review I just read 30 meters is the max range you can expect from the X11 (98 feet). You are getting 30-40 yards (90-120 feet) sounds about right. Here is the link to the review. www.rcdronearena.com › 2015/04/17 › s...
 
Hmmm. Not sure what to make of that. I have flown it up/down my road further than the distances at which it was losing control most recently. But I thank you for helping.
 
You are flying your X11 and your X5C-1 with the same transmitter? Which transmitter are you using, the one for the X5C-1 or the X11? Been doing this for a while with no previous issues?
 
Correct. Flying both using the X5C xmitter. In fact never have used the X11 xmitter. It has done great with the X5C unit!
 
Open it up and look at the antenna wire, it's probably just laying across the top of the board. Try straightening it upright.

Then punch a hole in the body and bring it out.

I have two of these. A X11 and a X11C. My X11C was doing same thing. I found the antenna wire was doubled over and scrunched in the nose. The X11 had the antenna straight out one of the front arms. Did the same to my X11C. No more drop out. Similar range as the X11.
