Looking for guidance for first time quad builder. Thanks

Hi I also found this on a 4 cell great flight times
  • Diatone FPV250LH V3 Frame
  • Cobra 2204 1960KV Brushless Motors
  • 12A Blue Series ESCs with SimonK Firmware
  • Gemfan 5030 Propellers
  • Naze32 with Multiwii
  • Frsky DJT Transmitter and Frsky D4R-II Receiver
  • Turnigy 9X with er9X Firmware
  • SONY SUPER HAD 600TVL CCD Camera – PZ0420 with 2.8mm Lense
  • Mobius / GoPro
  • Super Simple OSD
  • ImmersionRC 5.8Ghz VTX
  • Turnigy Nano Tech 4S Battery 1300mAh/1800mAh
  • Weight ~ 630g
  • Flight time ~ 9 minutes with 1300mah, 12 mins with 1800mah.
Nice, will research these parts also

Just found some info on the motors, they aren't meant for 4S but so many people were able to get them to run fine on 4s that they are apparently out of stock all over. The review I read was they got warm on 4S but not too bad

Well I am learning to lol but ecalc one min says one thing then another its a pain
I found this before with motors but if you want to run 4 cell just match motor kv but for a 4 cell , the mamba was interesting they normally run 3 cell but no flight times listed but i bet are good times Bruce on rc modelreviews runs one 4 cell set up I think

What do you mean by this? " run 4 cell just match motor kv but for a 4 cell"

I have been seeing so many different KVs I am not sure what is best to go with. I have seen some all the way down to 600ish and some close to 3000. I understand it is how many revolutions per volt and a 3S is 11.1 volts and a 4S is 14.8. Is there a certain RPMs you dont want to go over?

racing quads use high kv ( faster spinner small props) low kv big props , My quad is 700mm it has 650kv motors and 14x5.5 props
most 250 quads go between 2200kv 2600kv on 3 or 4 cell

But you have a higher mah and 4S probably? So does your rpm still come out about the same as the small quad? But you have more thrust due to prop size but less manuverabilty?

HI mate BEC means Battery Eliminator Circuit , some ESC like afro dont have power for receiver or FCB so we use the bec to gives us normally 5amps at 7-9v
As for props to motors a 3 cell will turn motor at given rpm per volt so if you then give it 4 cells it will have a higher top end as there is more volts being put in you just have to make sure if motors are 3 cell rated they dont over heat , it not to bad on a quad as they are in the airflow so cooling is good , even better if you find a 4 cell motor

Well in the last day I have really crammed alot of info and researched a ton of stuff.

I am going to be using the FrSky Taranis X9D http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/...S_Digital_Telemetry_Radio_System_Mode_2_.html

With the X8R receiver http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/...US_ACCST_Telemetry_Receiver_W_Smart_Port.html

I plan on using Rotorgeeks 12A BLHeli ESC V4 http://rotorgeeks.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=34_43&product_id=95route=product/product&path=34_43&product_id=95

Motors I am leaning towards the DYS BE 1806 2300KV with 6" props http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/...rushless_Motor_for_Multirotor_2300KV_24g.html

Hi mate a very good set up , so come on what battery are you going for they are 3 cell but are you going to push the 4 cell and see how they do
The esc are coded for 4 cell

Hi mate yes they are the same I hope you going to do a build log please, will help other and well be nice to see it built and flying ,makes good info for newbies to copy

Yeah, I can do that. I have never done a build log but I can try :)

Also is a 25-50C enough or do I need to go to a 45C-90C. I have read the rotorgeeks 12A ESCs can actually handle more than that, so I am thinking the 45C-90C would be best choice?

The DYS BE 1806 with a Gem Fan 5x3 on a 4S battery will produce 670G of thrust at 8.9A. From my understanding that is pretty darn good. Thats a lot of thrust with 4 motors when the whole rig may weigh 600G

Thats spot on mate she will be fast , I would go 50c burst the 8.9A x4( 4 motors) will only be for a few seconds as you punch throttle once the props are spinning loads will come down , I do have 90c but I had these for one of my Helicopters, I have some new 50c now and I cant see any change in how quad flys

I'm learning!! Thanks for all your help mate!!
