Looking for guidance for first time quad builder. Thanks

I have been following multi-rotors for awhile now and in th elast month have been doing a lot of research. I am itching to build a 250 FPV as this is what interests me the most.

I was wodnering if you could look at my parts list and see if you have any recommendations or see any glaring issues I may have overlooked.

Unfortunately I am only able to buy all the components through Newegg.com as I have a credit line with them but don't have the funds to buy from Hobbyking or any other site. So hopefully what I can get will be decent.

Thanks for any input.

Hi mate and welcome the list is good but there are things that will not work for the set up
Battery need to be as you said but 4 cell not 3
If you using the mobius if i remember right it has lag on the video so its ok for recording but you cant fly on it i will put a video on here if I may be wrong ,but if i am right get this for the FPV

Also the ESC are a little low 20 amp min really if your going to run 6 inch props
Now the motors are 2- 3 cell lipo ,250 racing quads are 4 cell , I cant find any 4 cell high kv motors , and on a 3 cell I dont know if your get a good flight time 1300-1500mah 4 cell is the norm on a 3cell i think your going to need 4000mah now the problem is its heavy and bigger then the 1500mah 4 cell , i cant find any motors with high kv for a 4 cell set up on this site

I may have to buy the motors from elsewhere then. I am lost on your explanation on the motors and what batteries then.

The Fat Shark Attitude V2 bundle comes with a FPV CMOS camera and TX.

Hi mate the fat shark has its own camera so thats great didnt want you to buy the modius for FPV
Ok motors KV = rpm per volt so 650kv on a 11v =7150rpm the same motor 650kv on a 4cell 14v=9100
Now racing 250 quads scream with the rpm they pull so you need lots of battery also as your running the FPV off the same battery too
So a 3 cell would need to be 4000-5000mah this will not fit in a 250 frame , so then we reduce size ( in your hand size) to a 4cell short and dumpy 1500mah this will be man enough to power quad and fpv , not add to much weight , 250 dont fly long but 3 cell will not give you enough power for a normal race

Ok that makes sense. So what kind of motor should I be looking for to pair with the 4S 1500 mah lipo?

Hi mate the motors kv is right you just need a 4 cell spec ? sunnyskys are good DYS another emax if you find one put a link on here so we can check

All the build logs I have seen so far for 250 quads based on the Blackout, ZMR frame etc all use 3S Lipo batteries and the motors are all 2s-3s. So I am am wondering why they went that way and not the 4S with 4S motor way?

Sorry the motors I linked above are 4 cell I will look for some more in kit form if you feel the kit is better for you , I checked these are 4 cell

I see what you mean they are 4 cell but not had prop test done on a 4 cell if you go for the kit you cant go over the prop they come with if you just get motors you can get bigger esc and run 6 inch the video i link for you has 6 inch props for the test

ecalc.com is a good tool to used this will work out flight times etc , a 3 cell will run a 250 quad but the FPV and quad will eat a 3 cell so the 4 cell will give you approx 4 mins racing easy , a 3 cell about 2 mins with FPV as you cant fit the bigger 5000mah 3 cell
with the 250 racing quads its all about weight .speed and flight times so they use 4 cell this will give you all that you need to race
If you go to rcmodelreviews on you tube he has done loads on FPV and racing quads , there is a quad called the mamba you can tilt motors on it to make it faster but your need to use the nase32 FCB as you can tell the board the motors are tilted so it will still hover level

Well I definitely need to try to find some 4s Motors then

Hi the radio has had some mixed reviews , I used spektrum as they do very small receiver some dont so you need to look at the size of the receivers
one of the ways to do it is find a mini quad set up that works and copy the set up motors ESC etc that way you know it works well
as for motors one of these will do very well RC TIMER, EMAX, SUNNYSKY, AGM, T MOTORS all top class motors if you find some and are not sure just put a link up

HI mate I have been playing with ecalc and I can get it to work on 3 cell set up but the prop pitch must not go over 3 degs so a 5x3 prop will work I also look up the mini mamba this set up runs 3 cell and 4 cell props stay the same may be its just for flight times the 4 cell is used the motors they use are sunnysky 2204-2300kv and on this set up they can run 6 inch on 3 or 4 cell, so I cant under stand why ecalc says no bigger than 5x3
take a look at the link
