imax b6 charger issue

Hey all ----

So I still need to do more troubleshooting, but my imax b6 I got (clone) makes no sense. I thought my old battery was bad because it was only putting like 60 mah in it in an hour (it is a 1300mah 3s 11.1volt battery). I used my new battery, and it charged it super fast (like 600mah and balanced in 38 minutes).

I went and flew my new battery.

I come back, plug the good new battery into the charger, set it for 1.3 amp balance charge like before, and now it is taking like 30 seconds to even go up 1 mah (usually goes up 1mah every 1-2 seconds). So my theory of the old battery being bad didn't make any sense now, for the charger was not charging my new battery very fast now either.

Well I put my old battery back on the charger, and now for some reason that one charged super fast like there is nothing wrong. Got that battery charged up now.

Now I have the new battery on the charger again, set at 1.3amp lipo balance charge mode, and in 10 minutes, its only added 23 mah.

Is there any reason the charger would charge a battery really slow when its at like 3.70 volt across the board, but when it gets up to maybe 3.9 volt, it starts to charge super fast in balance mode? I am waiting to see with this new battery if once it gets up to a higher voltage across all cells, if I shut the charger off, turn it back on, then will it start charging it like the normal speed it should?

Thanks guys!
Neil

There should be somewhere it shows the actual charge rate it's using when charging a given battery. Only reason I can think of that it might charge slower when the voltage is low is if the cells are too far off and so it's only slow charging and trying to get all the cells balanced before putting a higher charge through them, can maybe try regular charge not balance charge mode to start and see if it helps at all. In general a charger will have the highest amperage when the voltage is low and as the voltage goes up the amperage will come down to "top off" the charge. The wattage keeps going up if you have constant current and the voltage is going up (charging) then wattage and heat goes up.

Yep, that is what I have read, which is why my problem makes absolutely no sense to me.
I get the same result with regular charge and fast charge, doesn't go up 1 mah till around 35 seconds, on all different charge modes, its really weird.

Here are some photos.

I attached details to the bottom of the photos.

Any more ideas?

Thanks!

UPDATE:

So it got to that certain point like the other battery, and started charging super fast (how it should be).

Now when i restart the charge when its like half full now.. it will charge fast. Like as fast as it should, like 50 mah in 3 minutes...instead of 6 mah...

I am so confused.

I attached more photos of it charging fast now....

I think you should try Snado Intelligent Charger which is one of the best Lithium-Ion, NiCd, NiMH charger and available at https://bestportableproducts.com/top-5-best-18650-battery-chargers/

Dunno really only two things come to mind, check to be sure you have LiPo mode not Li-Ion or some other variant selected or just possible dud charger I guess not sure what else it could be.

Yah same I said basically but graphically, starts off with constant current and increasing the voltage until near full then current drops off and voltage becomes constant, once the difference between cell voltage and charge voltage is low enough then the current begins to drop down (since current is a result in the difference in voltage and resistance)

That chart helps, just seems my problem is really weird. It does taper off the amps once it is almost fully charged, but it shows 1.3 amps when its low even though it seems to be charging at like .1 or .2 amps until it hits a certain point on the battery then it charges normally, lol.

So after flying both batteries, I flew one to low voltage alarm (3.70 volt per celt), and I flew the other for a short time (4.09 volt per cell).

The one at 3.70 volt is charging super slow like usual....the one that is barely low is charging at the normal speed.

I mean the charger works good once it gets like a slow 300 mah into the battery, after that it charges super fast.

I guess that is just how this one is....no idea why.

Yah dunno occasionally I'll have a charger slow down mid cycle but just stop and restart the charge and it usually picks up and generally not slow at the start.

Yeah I guess I am just going to use the stock charger to charge the battery to the voltage that my other charge can charge fast at.

Created a new video tonight of me flying my bugs 8 pro if you guys want to check it out!!!! Really really appreciate a like and subscribe!!!
