Hubsan H501c Battery Issue

I just received a Hubsan H501C and after reading directions several times and charging battery, attempted my maiden voyage. Everything goes well except that my controller shows that the quadcopter battery is dead, when it indeed is fully charged....so I'm grounded without being able to even grab a GPS signal. Anyone else experience this, or have some suggestions before I have to send it back to the dealer (in China)??

Thanks for any help you can offer this RC noob.

the unit was purchased from GeekBuying.com
8.2 is OK, 8.4V is better, but it still should work. Does anything happen when you plug in the battery? You may be screwed, GeekBuying has a terrible rep. Email them and tell them and make a video that clearly shows the problem.

Yeah, the quad lights up and goes through the set-up process well, but the transmitter says there is no charge on the battery. But at the same time, the quad isn't grabbing any gps satellites, which sounds like a drained battery. I'm stumped.
I've emailed Geekbuying, hoping for favorable service. Got my fingers crossed!
