A coworker came in and handed me something his dog found on a walk in the woods

It's a Syma X5C. It had the factory 2Gb SD card in the camera and found some videos and pictures (can't load videos yet) and the date stamp was 10/01/2013.

I have yet to see if it's functional to any degree as I am still at work.

Will your overpriced game controller run it? :)

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle, it works!

As for the overpriced game controller, sadly no and nor will the CX-30W tx. I am curious tho if the wifi camera/tx aspect would work on it.

Update: camera powers up but no wifi connection.

Naw, I'm focused on a fpv brushed racer and all that entails.

IMHO there's really no such thing as "FPV brushed racer" .... It's almost a contradiction of terms. :p
Brushed motors are what we learn with until we can handle real motors ... lol ... Any racer worth having would be brushless.
They can always be downtuned so they're easier to handle while the flying skill set is improved to accommodate handling them.

My first "mentor" was of the same mentality, "go big or go home"

Tho not the reason I have chosen to stick with brushed micros, this is a pretty decent defence that size/type of the motor isn't everything.

I am not looking for the fastest, most high-tech, can go from ground to stratosphere with a flick of the thumb and I'm not looking to race anyone other than myself in my backyard or maybe at a local park.

To do that I want to keep it simple, keep it small, and keep it within my skills. I do not yet know how to solder for example and do not have a proper setup put together to do it right as I learn, so I am opting for something plug and play that will work with what I already have (and outgrown).

But overall, it doesn't matter to me if I am flying an fpv micro brushed or brushless, it's still flying a quad and both doing what I want to do which is to have fun.

Running a wild Quadcopter rehabilitation shelter would make a nice hobby. :p

I have joked (somewhat seriously) about having an RC Co-op. Yearly membership and you get access to the tools needed to upgrade/build/repair and the knowledge of skilled "mechanics" at hand when needed. And even a collection of new/used parts on hand for a low price.

I am part of a bike co-op like that here in Cincinnati - mobobicyclecoop.org/ I went from knowing how to ride a bike and some light maintenance to be able to tear a bike down, rebuild it, tune all the components and have made a number of bikes from scratch.

I only hear about all the cool things in Ohio after I leave :P

When someone ask about cool things back in Ohio my response is usually something like: "We uhhh have corn, and some mini-cities with nothing but more corn between them"

If you could get the people in your area interested then it would be an awesome opportunity, though it is hard enough to build a race group. I suppose you could add something like this as a community outreach to an existing racing group.

Spoken like someone who has never been trapped in the house on a crap weather day and wanted to fly. :D
