Flying without an OSD

Hi everyone,

I'm about to make the jump on my first quad build and wanted to do the UAVfutures $99 build. The only thing I noticed is there is no OSD in this build and I'm really concerned about frying my batteries.

Is there a way to know when to stop without OSD?

I see other FC's that have OSD's that I can afford, but I'm really scared about building a drone and wanted to be able to follow the UAVfutures tutorial and am unsure about using a different board than what is shown in the tutorial.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Yes, you'll be able to connect a small but fairly loud buzzer to your flight controller and will be able to program it for various alarms including low voltage warning in the CLeanflight/Betaflight configurator

There is also the low tech approach, just plug it into your balance lead. Works fine and is adjustable for voltage.

Use one of these all the time, just make sure you keep it out of the way of the props, learnt that the hard way. (I use a rubber band around it & the battery)
