First quad having issues with openpilot only running motor 4

Hi all! Hope someone with greater knowledge here can help - I am close to completing my first quad build based on the following:

Diatone frame
cc3d board
Afro ESC controllers
multistar elite 2204 motors

Everything is built out ok, the board is flashed to match the version of openpilot but when I get to the point in vehicle setup where I tune each motor with the lipo connected I can't get any response from any motor. The strange thing is that motor 4 spins up immediately even though I'm tweaking motor 1.

I tried a test where I connected each of the other motors to channel 1 to see what happens when I got to the same point in the setup and whichever motor was connected to ch4 spins up so I don't think it's a wiring issue or ESC issue.

One other point is that when I connect the lipo the quad seems to go into beacon mode.

Anyone have any ideas?

beacon mode when the quad chirps every 3 seconds or so. When I ran the transmitter wizard, all the sticks register except the one set to ch 1 so it couldn't progress through to completion

I am not an expert (yet) but check and make sure the solder isn't touching any other pins.

Also please post a clear and detailed picture of your cc3d board.

Hey there, thanks for everyone's help :)

ok, so running down the channels from 1 to 4, I have forward-left, forward-right, back-right, back-left. Have checked to make sure there are no bridging wires and seems to be fine (I have removed the top panel to take this shot).

When the lipo is plugged in (connected to the +/- to the right of the pic on the thinner cables), the back-left esc has a green LED on (solid, not flashing). No other LEDs on the ESC are lit. However, if I connect the ESC in the same order but running from channels 3 to 6 on the cc3d, the forward-right and back-left ESC show solid green (and the forward-right motor spins a little).

Well I don't know if it relates to you problem, but those thin battery leads need to be replaced, they should be thicker than your ESC's 16AWG. Grab some 14AWG.

the issue is that those cables match the cables on the lipo itself (it plugs in to the JST connecter under the frame). If I swap out the cables from the frame to the JST female connector won't I still have the same issue from the lipo to the male connector?

Cheers for the vid post - i remember that was a vid i watched while i was researching frames. My essential setup seems fine, so i was wondering if it could be one of a couple of things. Firstly i have a 2cell 7.4v lipo, would this have enough juice to power my setup? Secondly, i think the board could be borked. Will have to grab a multimeter and do some checking

Not sure if it helps or not but, when updating my CCD3 to the "race" settings something was done incorrectly and I had no pitch control. Come to find out, when I set up the transmitter I was doing one step and it was asking me to do something else (I think I completed a step but didn't realize it and did it again which fouled up the programming). Go through the setup again and be certain that each step was completed correctly before you bang your head against the wall too much.

Thanks! Have reflashed the board and gone through the setup as many times as i can (without it being too obvious as i'm building it at work ;) ). Vehicle setup gets as far as the individual motor setup but when i drag the slider the motors never turn. Will do a full multimeter test across all the cc3d outputs tomorrow but am increasingly convinced the board is fried for some reason.

I made the mistake of trying to do this step with no battery attached... the instructions did say to hook it up but I didn't bother reading that far. You did say one motor spins up so you must have a battery installed... good luck!
