First FPV flight...fail

So I'd consider myself to be a competent l.o.s pilot, but this is my first attempt at fpv flight, which as you can see, didn't quite go so well...


Resulted in a broken stilt, and I didn't have any spares, so that was the end of that.

Anyone got any tips for learning fpv ?
 
I second that ,I know you need a spotter but take it slow try and fly slow and smooth not too much angle of attack ,till you get used to the fpv ,some sit down till they get used to it
Your eyes are seeing movement but your ear which help balance is not feeling movement
Never fly backwards you can't see behind you , your spotter should had warned you , so like the guys said start flying facing forward only fly nose in if your coming towards your self but turn around to fly away again
 
When the video first started I thought to myself why is he trying to fly fpv nose in. I'm still collecting the needed equipment, but everything I have read or watched about fpv flying said to always have forward movement that it's real hard to hover in fpv especially when starting out.

hmm, things to think about - that space where I was trying is fairly limited to be honest, lots of hills and trees around me as you can see, and I was flying nose-in so that I wouldn't fly into myself with those carbon fiber blades without seeing it ! I wasn't trying to fly backwards, I think I actually got a bad bounce after the (ahem) second time I hit the ground, and yes, that's the roof of my house I bounced into. Thought I was going to have to climb up to retrieve it (again).

Interesting that the advice is to practice with forward motion, rather than trying to hover first (which I was trying to do). There is a spot I have in mind where I can do some longer runs out and back with only soft things to crash into, so I shall try that. Will check out the youtube stuff.
