First Build Help

I am working on my first build. I have been flying DJI drones for several years, but wanted to get into building and flying some FPV. I will list the components I have purchased so far, and am stuck on where to go from here, and what parts I should finish the build with. I am looking for good components and specifically purchasing from amazon.

Purchased:

  • Motor: T-Motor F40 Pro V2 2400kv
  • Frame: Armattan Rooster 5in
  • Camera: Foxeer Predator Mini
  • ESC: DalRC 4in1 40a ESC
  • Flight Controller: HolyBro Kakute F4 V2

I am looking to purchase the Spektrum DX6E with Spektrum DSMX Race Quad Receiver.

I am having trouble deciding on what else to purchase for the quad for components. I can't figure out how to decide if the components will be compatible with one another. I am really trying to eliminate the amount of 'hacks' that are going to be required to get this to work.

I also discovered today many have mentioned online that you need to get a FCC license in order to fly these in the US. Any information on this? Is it a must?

If anyone has an opinions, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Spektrum DX6E with Spektrum DSMX Race Quad Receiver.
I don't think I'd be buying an old tech 6ch TX these days, what's that thing cost, about $150?

This would make more sense for less money.

Or if on a budget this with the X6B RX included.

X6B i-BUS Specifications:
Brand Name: Flysky
Item: X6B i-BUS Receiver
Channels: 6(PWM), 8(PPM), 18(i-BUS)

Note it will also do straight up SBus.

You do not need an FCC license to fly.

The main use case for wanting an FCC license is when using non-FCC stamped transmitters - which includes the vast majority of FPV transmitters available. Some will say you don't need one, some say you should. If you decide to go the licensed route, it's a pretty painless exam - a couple hours of free study guides and $14 and then you're licensed.

Thanks you.

I have decided to NOT go with Spektrum. I have flown airplanes and driven and raced RC Cars for several years and run spektrum with those models so I wanted to run the same. I have decided to instead go with the Taranis QX 7 instead, seems that this is a well regarded radio in FPV. I have also purchased other parts since starting this post. If there are any opinions to anything I have not purchased please let me know. Thanks!

Purchased:
