FAA Threatened To Shoot Down Quads on Super Bowl

Guys this was the latest talk of the town. I first read the details here: FAA wants to shoot down quads and then a bit of research. It was a valid news. Previously, we also saw how Finnish police (the country might be wrong) also decided to take down quads with the help of Eagles. Overall, the scenario is not looking great in my eyes. What do you guys think?

Perhaps the most stupidest idea they've come up with. Was amazed when i heard about it today.

Sadly it's always a minority that create a bad image for the rest of us, why can't the UK goverment (and international) and councils work together with flyers supporting clubs and areas where it's safe and enjoyable for everyone.
Instead of instantly having a negative attitude.

UK government doesn't want anyone other than themselves up there filming. Big brother at its best.
The UK is the most watched people on earth.
 
I just saw a TV commercial for a lawn car service that featured a creeper guy looking sneaky and peaking over a fence while flying a Phantom type quad and the home owner has his pet eagle take out the "spy drone". The premise of the commercial was telling viewers that tough guys protect their property and so buy the lawn care services etc....

Anyway, Its not good the way quads are being depicted to the general public.

So my question, is how are they planning to shoot down drones? rifle fire, grenade launcher, Apache attack copters, Is NORAD on alert? The US navy is working on a laser system that cooks drones out of the sky, but the risk it also hitting commercial or other unintended aircraft and possibly even satellites.

Any projectile pointed up at the drone has the potential to come down (as well as the falling quad) upon innocent persons/people.

Well there are some well designed net guns with chutes that I have seen, you'd need some targeting system, or good aim though. Net stops the props, and a chute lands it slowly and safely.
 
I wonder how long before Hollywood depicts drones/quads with a film about Terrorists using them to kill people, threatening national security?
Not long I suspect!

YOu mean they are not now? I was asked how the CIA could track all 'drones', and when I said they don't I was asked why not hahahaha. They seemed genuinely shocked. Then recently the same question pops up on quora. It is certainly getting annoying... By many people 'drone' pilots are all considered perverts who only wish to invade your privacy.
 

I was wrong about some of the details, but basically the premise is protect your yard... Oh yeah and quads are for nosy, creeper type weirdos.
