F11s controller factory reset

Hi from Australia. Does anyone know how to pair a new controller with an SJRC F11s 4K Pro drone. Some forums say holding 'STOP' and 'Power' will reset and allow search for new drone but that factory reset sequence does nothing on my new controller.

RE : a new controller
Just curious. Is that "new controller" made for SJRC F11s Pro?
Does it look like this screenshot?

My google result has the same answer.
You tube link on how to pair the controller with F11s Pro drone......

Hi David, and thanks for the response. The image of the controller is the same as in the Youtube, very similar in the case for the controller butthe screen is different on the one I have just bought (as a F11s). The Youtube is 2 years old and so I assume they have updated the controller and it now has a different sequence to do a factory reset (or they just don't have the option any longer). Anybody else bought the F11S recently?

Can you post a screenshot of the controller you bought?
Does yours look like the screenshot below?
Notice the difference between this one and the one posted earlier.
The one I posted earlier is sold under the Brand name SJRC.

Hi David, The case is the same but the screen shows things in a different layout to your first photo, (not the Ruko one). Looking online the one like yours is often shown with coloured text where as mine (that I bought with a drone) the screen text and icons are monochromatic. Best, Neil

You bought the right controller for your F11s. No question.
I can't tell you how to pair the controller with drone other than from the You-tube I posted. But you knew that answer already.
Why it does not work for you? I have no answer for that.
Sorry.

P.S. Your F11s is a 5g wifi camera drone. That means you will need a 5g wifi smartphone in order to connect the drone's camera with the smartphone.
You can still fly the drone without a 5g wifi smartphone. You just don't get to see what the drone's camera sees because the NON-5g wifi phone is unable to receive images sent from a 5g wifi drone camera.

@cranky,
How about pairing the controller and the drone the "usual way"........
Turn on the drone. The drone's light should be flashing in red.
Turn on the controller. there should be a beep coming from the controller.
Wait for the drone's lights start flashing in blue.
On the controller, push the LEFT stick Up and then DOWN once.
See if that does the pairing.

Thanks David, The manual doesn't talk about pairing, I think they are just paired pre-purchase. I actually bought the second of these drone & controller recently to see if I can diagnose whether it is the drone or controller that was malfunctioning in the first one I bought. Thought I'd try pairing the new controller with old drone and if that solved the problem then the issue was with the old controller, not the drone and visa-versa. Not sure about the "usual way" of pairing, I just get no response other than the controller message 'Connecting' but it never does (even using the STOP-Power option. I'll try a few combinations though in the morning.
Cheers, Neil

RE : The manual doesn't talk about pairing,
It does. Just briefly under the chapter heading ..... FLIGHT.
It says they are supposed to connect automatically after they are turned on.

excerpt of the user manual :

FLIGHT

Ensure the remote control antennas opened correctly before operation. It takes about 40 seconds for the aircraft to connect to the remote control.

  1. Power on the remote control
(Paring takes 40 seconds if the system started)
  2. Turn on the aircraft and set down on a level surface
  • The aircraft will auto-trim to this level surface.
  • Four aircraft arms -
  • Blinking Red.
  • Power on the remote control and link the aircraft automatically.
  • Lights flashing blue (back) and white (front).

RE : I actually bought the second of these drone & controller recently

Controllers of identical model version are supposed to be interchangeable.
Does the controller of the first drone work with the second drone? If yes, then the culprit is the first drone, not the controller.

Hi David, I've tried the two combinations of different drones and controllers but unless it's the way they were bought they just won't talk to each other. They just sit there saying 'Connecting'. trying to find the last used wifi I guess. Neither the 'STOP'-'POWER' or 'UP'-'DOWN' reset option ever get anywhere, never past the red lights flashing. I think in the last year or so they must have changed the sequence of commands to factory reset, or perhaps they just don't have that option any longer (hard to believe that one I guess, as you just have to sometimes to solve a problem I think).

No worries David, thanks for all the ideas so far. It occurs to me that I asked this question in the 'Introductions' section. Would it be better to ask in a more general section of the forum, create a thread just for this question?

In theory it is best to post in the appropriate section. But your post has been around for sometime now, members would have noticed that already.

@cranky

I have just found out that for pairing you drone and controller, you need to turn on the DRONE First, then the controller.
If you do it the other way, they won't pair.

1. Turn on the drone first
2. Turn on the controller next
3. Push the LEFT stick UP and then DOWN once.

See if they are paired this time.

Hi David, Nothing still, the controller just sits there waiting for I assume a wifi connection.
On post #12 I wrote this to you..........

"Controllers of identical model version are supposed to be interchangeable.
Does the controller of the first drone work with the second drone? If yes, then the culprit is the first drone, not the controller."

Did you try the first control on the Second drone?

Hi David, Yes, I've tried both combinations of old with new. As there is no change from "Connecting', it doesn't look like anything is resetting the controller (or drone), it's just looking for it's known (previously paired) counterpart.
