Can you recommend a quadcopter *without* altitude hold?

Hey, all - first post here. For some time I've owned a little Hubsan H107D, which I've loved flying; you can directly control the power to the rotors with the left stick, which means I can lean it forward, go full throttle and watch it zip off into the distance.

I recently bought a newer Hubsan which, it turns out, has altitude hold. It's frankly awful; a slight upward breeze and it overcompensates and continues to fly higher and higher, and when I overcompensate by holding the stick down... the rotors turn off completely and it just drops out of the sky, ultimately thinking it's on the ground whilst it's fifty feet up.

I'd love to find a larger quadcopter that I can control like the H107D; it should still have auto-levelling, but I want to be able to tell the props exactly what to do without the onboard system adjusting the power based on what it thinks it needs to do. I have no idea what term I'd need to search for to find this, so can anyone recommend anything?

Cheers,
Vanta

That quad looks OK cowboy. Nothing like that when I started well that price anyway. Looks like a straight forward fix if any breaks. Or put 3rd party stuff on it.

Are you looking for A smaller drone or a bigger drone?

The one Jackson just linked to looks like a decent toy. Brushless motors esc's. If all breaks, the lot is replaceable or if the frame breaks you could put it on a race frame. Could have done with one of these when I started..

If anyone in the Continental US wants one of these, check the MJX Multirotor Owners group on Facebook. Jeff Suits, the group admin, sells them at $115 shipped within the lower 48. 2-3 days and you have it. I got mine from Jeff.

Just to update here, after Jackson's recommendation I ended up going for an MJX Bugs 3 from Tomtop, where they're currently being sold for $86.59. The reviews on 'em look fantastic!

I've been flying around with the Bugs 3 for a few days now, and I'm super happy with it - I can throw it around the sky without it even batting an eyelid. I like it so much I may even buy another in case this one somehow ends up crashing x)

Thanks for the recommendation!

Has anybody had any experience with the Syma X8 model that has altitude hold, or the new JJRC model that has it?

I just started flying mine on a 3S battery...wow, it's fast with the extra voltage.

Now get a 4s if your esc can take it & try that b4 you buy any more 3s. You will kick yourself like I did, thinking why did I buy all them 3s.
4s ain't slow but now I Want 5s but my gear can't take it. And I'm not buying new kit just yet till all my spares have gone.
