broken antenna repair

Got my new unit all set up and went to test, but didn't finish securing antennas. So of course when i landed it flipped an chopped one off.

Can I splice it? Or do I have to expose 31 mm like explained in this video:

I would agree, except the tip was like this picture the piece has the specified length out the top. Also it is the interior wire that matters so I wasn't certain if soldering it would matter since the end is already made to have the right exposure...

The black piece on the right fits over the exposed part, you can see the fissure where it cracked (I can fix that back with a bit more heatshrink.

So I exposed this on the broken off end. If I strip off the casing on the inner wire here and do the same with the other piece would the solder joint be a problem for the signal?

i dont think it will be an issue to be honest, i could be wrong, but for what i know, the length and wire guage is whats important, solder them but use as little solder as possible.
what ive done in the past spektrum receivers when one antenna got broken via prop, i simply took a single servo wire lead and soldered it directly to the board,,never had signal issues

yea me either tbh. I think it should be fine, I will let y'all know how it goes, the sad thing is I have barely even flown this model! Just got it today through eBay (the seller said it was too advanced for them, they sent me the model another FSi6 Tx, and a damaged receiver which is fine for PPM all for $120 CA!). It is brand new basically.

Sounds like a bad deal. You could have gotten the newest, most advanced FS- i6X with the latest lightweight X6B RX, note the easily replaceable antennas.

Well the Rx wasn't included in the auction, so getting anything was a bonus. This quad flies really nicely. As it stands the Rx is fine all pins intact for PPM, which is what matters. I am probably going to order 3 or 4 of those Rx soon. Thanks for the heads up!
