Bayang X9 Quick Review.

I finally received my X9 via Gearbest today..One odd thing is i had to sign for the package..Ive not had to do that before with other companies...Anyways ill dig into it a bit and give my first impression as the batteries charge.

1.) This quad is super light with bare bones assembly, leaving no room for weight loss improvements other than maybe a smaller battery...The plastic is somewhat soft and flexible throughout and, should be able to withstand some pretty good crashes and not snap in two like most hard plastic bodies and frame assemblies.

2.) The prop guards one can render useless..The plastic is so soft that even barely pushing on one, instantly puts it into the props quite easily as, they dont leave much clearance between the two...If you watch some youtube reviews you will see they dont exactly protect much of anything and, i can see why...I plan to cut the prop guards off, personally.

3.) The transmitter has a pretty cheap feel to it as expected and, on the back where you install the batteries there is a misprint...The transmitter shows to use AA batteries which is incorrect and, they actually use 4 AAA batteries...The controller is a playstation like controller size with basic run of the mill function..It does provide 3 different rate modes of 25% 50% and 100% ,a flip mode and standard trim adjustments...As cheap as the controller is, its performance is quite popular and it uses the same protocol as all the bayang models (x6 x7 x8 x9) as well as the JJRC/Eachine H8 mini and floureon H101 mini.

The spare parts content did come with a screwdriver to remove the back cover from the transmitter as it has one screw holding the cover on to get to the batteries..Also included were 4 spare props and usb charger..It did come with a battery and manual as well.

I will post up some pics and more impressions once i get to fly it.

Ok..i got to run 2 batteries through this x9 and im very impressed with stability and ease of flying...Indoors i think is where this quad shines most as it doesnt take much wind to move this light weigh around like a feather.

I noticed outdoors it struggles to gain speed against any wind even though the pitch is fairly aggressive..These 6mm motors and low pitch props just arent outdoors friendly in the wind.

Yaw, roll and pitch are very acceptable for this quad and provides a sporty flight with out much fuss.

I would personally recommend this to a new flyer as an indoors trainer more so than outdoors and, would also recommend this to experienced flyers as well for sporty indoor use.

The JJRC1000 has a quite a bit over this x9 for outdoor use and speed but it also has larger motors and a more aggressive program on the FCB as well...so ,maybe apples and oranges here.

Am i happy i bought this model?...I have to answer yes to that, as its by far the most stable indoor quad i have tried and i think with more indoor space it would make this a very nice indoor sport flyer for the experienced in high rates...Low rate is very forgiving and easy to maintain control for beginners.

Overall i rate this as a well balanced indoor flyer for both beginners and experienced flyers alike.

Beautiful looking FCB:rolleyes:

According to the numbers on the fets (A0SHB) these are 3.8 amp rated and the gyros are InvenSense MPU 6050 which is a 3 axis gyro and 3 axis accelerometer built into one unit.....Some good stuff on this board.

Those fets should handle some good 7mm motors easily...I smell a possible hybrid.:D

Great review! Sounds like it's somewhat similar to my little cx-10, but a little bigger and better. Definitely a better looking transmitter, but I can't tell from the pic if it is the same tiny size as the cx-10's, or bigger. What I really can't wait to see is what you do to customize this thing.

Thank you...i would have to say its larger than the cx10...The cx10 i believe also has a much faster yaw rate and it may very well be faster in general...Ive not owned the cx10 to compare it to but the x9 is a solid quad...Whats surprising is the InvenSense MPU 6050 it uses which is used on much better boards like the NAZE32 FCB which is a pure hobby grade flight control board costing a bit more than this $7.00 board.

Heres the quad next to the jjrc1000.

Long term update:

I estimate now about 40 flights and, not one single negative issue to report ..its just pure fun...Im finding that in outdoors with little to no wind ,this is quite a capable little quad.

Ive not lost a single prop or have had a single glitch to report with this quad...this has been one durable quad.

Anyone wanting a fun reliable starter quad, i highly recommend this based on my personal experiences with it to date...The batteries dont appear to have lost any power as of yet...no glitches...no drop outs...good range..props are staying put..This is one of 2 little quads worth every bit of $20.00...The other being the JJRC 1000A. ( The Little Speed Demon on Rails)

For more experienced fliers, i recommend the x9 for its pure sportiness in high rates...Its not the fastest nor on the tightest of rails when turning but its a blast of fun to fly and a very stable hover with maybe a tick of trim adjustment.

I got it and like it. I also like the radio for it's larger size and it's longer, regular sticks, makes for less twitchy responses. Sounds good and has great lights. I got it when is was on sale for $16, a deal.

Im looking to get one in black and that bright green now...Hopefully they turn out to be as good as the first one.

Should be fun mixing and matching the frames ,props and, bodies for different looks.

Yea, That Mould King is another one of the better toy quads to have i hear...i want to start on bigger 200MM models like the X5C-1.

If you want the fastest yaw youve ever seen in a toy quad with amazing speed check out the Eachine H8 mini...another under $20.00 quad.

Im still getting the black and green models of the X9 to complete the set and may very well use x9 flight boards for some hybrids with 7mm motors.
