Battery Question

Hi! I have a crappy-ish quadcopter that I have been modifying bit by bit. I wanted to upgrade the original battery (HW701855P 500mAh) to a 6000mAh battery (BRC 18650). The battery powers it, but cannot supply enough power for the device to actually take off. Does anyone know why? (I've done a little fooling around and the issue isn't weight. This battery is surprisingly light for its capacity and it did not take off even without the weight.)

Thanks in advance,

Carter

Hi Carter can you post links to the batteries, the ones I found is ( first battery ) 3.7v lipo 15c the second is a AA battery if this is right the quad wont fly due to the second being to low of a C rate , you must stick with lipos if this is what your quad had when you got it

to a 6000mAh battery (BRC 18650)
Well FWIW there is no such thing as a 6000mAh 18650Li-Ion. There are some 3400mAh out there but they only have a low ~2C rating (6.4A) Is your battery labelled as UltraFire? If so they are simply bottom rung junk. Actual mAh at ~5A drain is probably ~1500mAh. They are the laughing stock of Li-Ions.

You may be able to get some results with this one. A long time and trusted manufacturer with accurate specs.

Max. continuous discharge rate : 15C

Or 24A converted.

Beware of counterfeits though, lots being sold on eBay.

Hi guys I need some help. I have an alien 560 with rcx 700kv motors and rcx 40amp esc with hobby king carbon fiber props balanced using 12x4.5 naza lite upgraded to v2 firmware and using turnigy 4s 5000mah stock bone dry no camera no fpv nothing stock and I'm only getting 6 minutes hover time. Motors come down cool just Luke warm if that. Why am I getting only 6 minutes on 4s 5000mah?? Please help should I go down to 3s 8000mah??

U guys think the rcx 40amp escape are killing my flight times? Should I go down to 30amp esc? I'm lost I just want more flight time I see a lot of people getting 12 to 15 minutes and I'm no where near that.

Hi mate I would go up prop size I have a 700 class running 650kv motors and run 14x5.5 props ,I get 6 mins from a 3 cell 3000mah

What do u recommend on prop size? Right now I'm running 12x4.5 with 700kv rcx motors. On the website the rcx 700kv motors recommend 12x3.8 at 4s so I'm confused when u say go up a Size. Well the motors be OK to go up?? Thanks I'm still trying to get the hang of this.

I would have to see the spec of the motors it says 12x3.8 at 4 cell but you was going 3 cell so the max rpm will be lower ( kv = rpm per 1 volt of power so 700kv at 2 volts is 1400 on a 3 cell will be 7770 rpm on a 4 cell is 9800)so as you drop cells your loose lift as the max speed is dropping as well the main thing to watch is the amps pulled
Your running a 40amp ESC I only run 30 amp and have never over loaded one yet so I dont think your motors will pull over the ESC max amps
Do you know these are a helicopter ESC if I am thinking of the right ones

They are flashed with Simon k I think it says quadcopters. I got them from myrcmart.Com. so should I got up on prop? Also the motors u got from myrcmart.Com aswell. There the only 700kv there.

Thanks I have to get back to work. :) thanks for the help. I have 4s right now what prop should give me the most flight time with my setup or do u think I should go with the 14x4.7 prop on 3s 8000mah
