What is it used for??? Ordered some motors & this was in the package.

Neither. Here is a link to the motors with the package shown. It is very sticky on both sides. The white is like a wax paper to keep it from sticking to any thing before use.

So is it just a piece of Velcro? If so it isn't needed for the motor installation but should be useful for something down the line.

Not Velcro. It is a double sided sticky, about 1/16" thick and 1" wide. You could roll it in a ball or shape it how you want, but you end up with something sticky on all sides. It is more like something used to seal windows on an rv. Was just curious what its us with RC would be.

Well foam mounting tape (if that's what it is) is quite useful for a variety of mounting chores, especially when you need a little 'give' or vibration dampening. There are 2 types removable and permanent. Come in rolls or pieces.
