Hey guys...

Yesterday I took my Hubsan transmitter into the back yard and turned it on.

In 3 minutes the video display showed that I had linked with 7 Satellites, and the location where I stood was displayed in Latitude and Longitude!

I was thorughly impressed!

 ... Yep, GPS is a marvelous thing.
BTW, did you know that the clocks on those satellites have to be detuned from "normal" in order to obtain
their accuracy ? Since time is a relative function, based upon one's perspective and location, any clock in outer space
will run at a different speed from one here on Earth's surface depending on it's distance. Without compensating for
those differences the level of positional accuracy for our GPS system would be abysmal.

Right, Gyro Doctor.
Since all forms of electromagnetic radiation travel at the velocity of light (186,000 miles or 300,000,000 meters/sec.), there would be an appropriate delay in a satellite's GPS signal reaching the earth's surface after traveling 12,000 miles, which would be 12,ooo/186,000, or .0645 or 64.5 milliseconds.
