Drone Build Ideas

I picked up a lot of 350 QX ver 2 and 3 in a garage sale. One ver 2 with a busted frame, one ver 3 complete, an extra body, and an extra GPS unit.

I swapped out frames for the ver 2 and cannot get it to initialize. It has an accelerometer problem and looks like the motherboard is busted. Two orange blinking lights.

The ver 3 gets past accelerometer, ESC, but it hangs up somewhere. It looks like it is initialized but it will not go into bind. No lights, but a long time in between single short beep.

Not wanting to mess around with these expensive complex boards, I think I’m going to build the ver 2 with an old KK2 I have laying around.

Now, for the ver 3, I’d like to build something with GPS, barometer, etc. searching around, it looks like the MultiWii 328p would be an inexpensive formula. I can’t tell if the board comes with integrated barometer, etc. Do I need to get the main board and then get an add on barometer, GPS, and compass?

Any other ideas.

Well, I ended up installing a KK2 board. I modified the ESC signal connectors with regular standard receiver connector ends. Hooked everything up, but could not get the QX ESCs to respond. After several trials I tossed them and used common Brushless ESCs. Got everything fitted and flies great. It was a really tight fit for everything to include a 3S 2200 Lipo, but got it all to work. I wish I had GPS, baro, and compass, but it is a nice aerobatic flier.

Waiting to hear more about the MultiWii to build the other one with a GoPro.

If you want all three you may need to go with a "F4" FC. As for software.........I'm working on a 250mm frame and I plan on using iNav..........

What I've seen of MultiWii..........and I might be wrong..........but looks very dated....................

Don’t know much about the Wii, but it looks like the original version was dated. However, the new 328p version looks promising. It looks like it would be solid with the optional compass and Nav.

I’ve never used anything other than old KK controllers. Once properly tweaked they have been hands off hovering....without any sort of breeze of course. I don’t mind the KKs but it is very hard to fly them high and then bring them back down without loosing orientation. I think I’m getting old because I used to be able to fly helos near the stratosphere back when we didn’t have gyros....or if you,did have a gyro, you, sold a kidney to get it.

Not looking for FPV, but would like a nice inexpensive setup for, photography. I actually attached the GoPro to the one I just built with the KK and took some good video around 20 yards.
