"Open Phone Wi-Fi"

The instructions for my quad are written in Chinese/American, and are very hard to understand. When it comes to using the cell phone in flying the quad, the instructions tell me to "open phone wi-fi." I assume that means they want me to activate my cell phone wi-fi.

OK - how do you do that when you are out in the middle of a field somewhere with no wi-fi access?

That's correct. The camera transmitter broadcasts a signal that your phone will read as a WiFi network. You will need whatever app they specify to be able to view the video feed. You will open up the 'WiFi Networks' setting on your phone and you should nee a network that is actually the quad's camera broadcasting. Connect to that.

Be aware that WiFi FPV is likely to have some lag, so it will make it challenging to try to fly primarily using the FPV view. Also, there is the possibility that it can interfere with the transmitter signal controlling the quad. If you start to see weird behavior from the quad, that is likely to be the cause.

WiFi FPV is far from ideal. Higher level FPV quads use 5.8 Ghz signal rather than 2.4 Ghz.
