CC3D Atom esc configuration trouble

im struggling to configure my MR.RC 20A esc in openpilot
Im going through the setup wizard and when it comes to configure the esc it says remove all props dont have battery connected etc etc..
you tick all the boxes then click start then connect the battery, at this point its meant to beep then you dissconect the battery click stop and it should beep again but it never beeps and if i click stop it then beeps about 10 times then makes the normal start up beeps then the motors start at full speed. if i skip this step to check the motors in the next stage still nothing happens.
also iv noticed motor 3 got pretty hot ive got emax rs2205 2600kv motors
i had some other esc on this that worked fine anyone got any tips or ideas what im doing wrong?

Close but not quite. PLug in the battery and click start. Don't unplug the battery. Click stop, you'll get the 10 beeps followed by the song. Now you can unplug the battery. Done

my problem has changed now, when i do that press start plug in battery and nothing if i click stop thats when it starts making loads of different beeps that dont stop and random motors will start up. i dont know what it could be
