Can't figure this one out. Check the specs, it only says 2200 mah lipo. Doesn't say if it's 2S or 3S??? My charger says it's 2S but instructions say to charge at 12V??? Doesn't come with a charger. I guess I'll just try charging as 2S at 2 amps but just wanted to run it by the members here for thoughts. Other than that, this is a very nice unit, resolution is amazing

Hi mate 12 volt is it at full ,set you charger to 2 cell (if the spec said 2 cell the lipo charger does a cell check and wont charge if it's wrong ) then charge at max of 2.2 amps which is C1 charge rate

Thanks, I'll let you know how it goes. I've got a Hitec X4 charger, it won't let me do anything I'm not supposed to. The other thing I find odd is there's no balance port, just straight charge.

OK I think I've got it figured out. It can't differentiate between 2S and 3S because there's no balance port so it will charge at either settings. If I charge at 2S rate it immediately tells me battery is full at 8.4 volts but if I check the battery level on the monitor it shows not even near full. If I set charger at 3S charge, the battery is charging to 12.6 volts, and it's recommended to charge at 12v. So 3S charge it is.

Hi is hitec 4 port charger it is the balance plugs are below the power out leads , they normally have an adaptor that plugs in then the balance lead off the battery plugs into this

That is odd, a 2S will charge to around 8.4v while a 3S will charge to around 12.6v. Double check the specs they probably got something wrong.

Yes it is odd. If I set to 2S voltage o the charger immediately shows 8.4 volts and after a few seconds shows full. But meter on the monitor shows only half charged. If I set the charger to 3S, it immediately shows 12.6 volts but it will charge for maybe 10 minutes. Red light goes out on monitor which means it's charged but only runs for 5 minutes before it shows low voltage warning. Time to scour the interweb for some answers

So you are stopping it when the 'Red light goes out on monitor'?

Yes, I have to monitor it constantly and watch for the red light goes out and turn off the charger, because it will keep charging. Weird thing is, when I charge any typical 3 cell battery, I start the charger and it will show the battery level (ex 11.8 V) and it will gradually increase. When it hits 12.6, the charger beeps and flashes full. Standard operation. When I try to charge the batteries in the monitor, as soon as I turn the charger on, it immediately shows 12.6 volts, even though I know the battery level is low. I found a thread about this monitor and the question was asked about this but no one gave any clear answer. One person replied that you could charge it with any 12V 1-2 amp charger. what the heck is that??? One guy posted a pic of the monitor opened up and there's actually 2 batteries. The charge port on the monitor is the type you typically see on a laptop so I looked around and couldn't find anything I could try. At this point I'm doubting it is in fact a lipo, and at a loss. I'm going to do some more research, must be a clear-cut answer out there somewhere........

Use a 12V 2amp wall wart that has the correct plug and polarity. My moniter came with one for use without a battery, it does not have an internal battery. Kind of strange you got a cable for an external battery hookup but no charger.

Thanks, going out to grab one at Wallymart. Just pisses me off that I have to buy a $5 charger because my $200 Hitec won't do it. And it makes me nervous plugging a toy charger into a $200 monitor.

Ok, so I got the power supply, 3-12v adjustable with 8 different ends. Turns out the one I need is 5 X 2.1. Everything looks good, seems to be charging like it should. I finally found a little info and yes, it does have an internal charging system with Cn3702 chip. Thanks for everyone's advice!
