Performance Props

What are you flying, and what size props are you getting? bullnose can deliver a boost in performance from what I have been told, but never needed them myself.
 
Also, try to look at the thickness of the prop you're getting. A 5040 Gemfan is lighter than a 5040 Dalprop(as an example) although the Dalprop is quite more durable. 1806/2300kv motors have a hard time with the thicker 5inch props but 2204/2300kv motors would be fine. (This is to the best of my knowledge correct/please correct me if I am wrong)
 
So props can only influence speed and not handling?
I'm not sure about pitch but a 3 bladed prop is going to grip the air harder than a 2 bladed prop for sure. But if your using a 5040 2 blade i would try using a 5030 3 blade. Just to make sure you don't over draw your motors. Do you know the frame size in mm and the motor size? I might be able to answer your question a bit better with that info.

If you want to try and make your quad a bit more aggressive try putting 5040x3 or 5045x3 props on it. Adding that 3rd prop will reduce your flight time but 2204 size motors wont have a hard time spinning them.

Do you not like the 5040 props it came with or is this just a general question? (The answer is yes, props have a MAJOR influence on your quads performance)

Just a general question. I want more handling because of my personality.
The long answer is that I work on my own paid off car (2012 Honda Civic Si) and I have invested a lot in it and I have had it professionally tuned. Hondas are well known for their cornering capabilities and I want to translate this to drone racing. I made the switch because I'm in college full time and moving in at a new apartment with my girlfriend and drone racing is wwwaaayyyy cheaper than automotive racing. lol

If you want more handling I recommend 3 bladed props for sure... If you have a RC Hobby shop near you try picking up a few pairs of 5040x3 or 5045x3 props. You will be amazed what a difference it makes. Just remember the ESCs you have are only rated at 12Amps, so don't punch your throttle to hard all the time or you can potentially hurt them. I'd recommend trying the 5040x3 props first and giving them a little bit of a stress test and feel your ESCs. If they are a bit warm after a flight i wouldn't bump it up to 5045x3's. Good luck :]

Electronic speed controller. Each motor is attached to one. They are the things that determine how much energy flows threw your motors. If you add to much air resistance to your props it will overheat them and in many cases they will burn out mid-flight and that's not fun. :P Different motors can handle more or less current and same goes with ESCs. If you ever build a quad or replace your motors or ESCs. Try to find out the motors max Amp rating and add 10-20% to that. (Ex. 10Amp Motor = 11/12Amp ESC) this will make sure you never make your ESC work too hard given you are using the proper props on the motors :]

Honda civic , I had the honda Integra started off as the 1.8 190 bhp , but £8000 later it was 2.0 and was running 265 bhp used to eat cosworth escorts and chipped audi TTs
Any way back to quads front know if your get one to turn as hard as a honda ,you need to master banked turns that way you can keep the speed while turning

Ah, yeah on the drone racing being less expensive, but then you threw away all of the savings when you moved in with your girlfriend ;) Best wishes to the 3 of you. :)
