FPV on my MJX X101

Is there any way to utilize non-wifi FPV on my X101? I bought a c4008 wifi FPV cam and know that I can use my iphone with the app but wanted to know if my quad is just not capable of running a "real" FPV system. Thanks!

The X-101 can haul around heavy action cams, so yes you can outfit it for real FPV if you'd like.
Try the "FPV Kit" that's for the Syma X5. It has it's own battery inside the camera with a built in 5.8 GHz 200mW transmitter.
The camera lens angle can be adjusted, which is nice, and comes with a 4.3" monitor that has a built in receiver and a Planar antenna too.
The camera will also record on it's built in SD card, but the plug and wiring don't jive with the X-101, so you can't control that from the radio,
but there are youtube videos on how to wire a small switch for recording control before flight (like you hafta do with a lot of cameras anyway).
The camera is extremely light weight, streamlined (unlike a board camera set up) and the quad won't even know it's there!
This is what I used on my X-101 and it worked like a charm, plus it's only about $50 bucks for everything you need. ;)

No need for the Syma/JJRC $51 kit, The camera has a switch on it already.

Not really sure what you mean by that. No need for this kit because what camera already has a switch ?
Of course the camera in this kit has a switch but it's only for the power, the snapping of a picture or recording of a video is done by the wires on it's plug.

This $51 kit is the camera, camera mounting hardware, camera battery, transmitter, transmitter antenna, receiver, receiver antenna, LCD display, display mounting hardware, display battery, and charger for both. There's no way you can beat this set up for an FPV starter pack.

Be sure the kit has a compatible plug to work with the MJX camera board plug...Some are 3 pin....some require 4 pin...The syma /jjrc fpv does not work on every fpv capable toy quad.

It is self powered by it's own battery and has a manual switch to turn it on. The plug isn't really needed, just flip the switch before you take off.

 ... Sheese ... The switch on the Syma camera from the kit is just for power. Turn it on and it's ready to be used for FPV ... BUT If you want to take a pic or record a video then that's done with the wires from it's plug ... The plug and wiring DOES NOT match the X-101 ... Cut the wires from the plug and momentarily short the two wires together, or better yet connect them to a small pushbutton switch (like I did) ... Short press takes a pic and long press starts recording video ... The entire camera, battery, 200 mW TX, (plus my switch mod) all together weighs only 23.4 grams

Its the yellow and black wires you need to short for 3 seconds to start recording...short for 1 second turns it off...Most are using micro momentary switches mounted to the camera case to start and stop video quickly...Its really only plug and play for syma models.

My Nihui u807 uses a 4 plug camera thats compatible with WL toys FPV and cameras..Unfortunately the FPV monitors by WL toys suck the big one but, the camera is better than the syma camera..So for me i would have to mix and match to get a decent fpv kit for the Nihui....The camera on the WL toys has the proper "select- a- frequency" to use the syma monitor and vice versa.

That's all I care about, I got a real camera for flight vids. It's like all the FPV videos you see out there. It's always action cam video they show. And the analog FPV cameras the true racers use are always <700TVL, their concern is the lowest latency possible.

Yep, that's true ... BTW, "Team Blacksheep" has a new camera that's zero latency !!! (<1ms)
They say anything over 650 TVL slows things down, but I've never tested that.

Are there any regular cams that are not FPV that are a direct fit for the X101 that will work with the controller?
Thanks

Personally I'd go with the C4010, it's more streamlined and just looks better than a big square hanging underneath, but that's just me. I actually don't like using WiFi for FPV though, but if you want X101 cams controllable by the remote these are them.

I have been searching for Youtube videos looking for the "how to" on installing a micro switch on the Syma HD camera to trigger photos or video recording when used on a MJX X101. Would appreciate someone posting a link if you come across one.
