I'm an Idiot

So I was flying my new Eachine racer 250. I thought I was getting pretty good at it, going farther and farther away. Getting cocky I was flying fpv over woods, doing really well too. Well the signal started cutting out and I lost my bearings. It felt like minutes as I was looking up (no spotter... Idiot!)in the sky trying to find it while I kept trying to fly, watching the broken up fuzzy picture monitor, trying to recover in hopes that the video would come back. Eventually all video cut out and I cut the throttle and I'm guessing I was flying the wrong way.

Will that thing keep flying if it loses TX input or can it keep going?

Dang it! I'm an idiot. I searched for 2 hrs. Lost my Run Cam too.

damn bro :( hope u can find it. i know what its like, when i first got my x5c-1 i got super comfortable within the first flight, and then the next flight i crashed on some old ladies roof and she tried to keep it cus its "her property" (it was a rented condo :/) though it turned out my x5c was defective which is why i would lose signal/control after like 50 feet and then it would just keep going up and up and up, hoping my u807 comes in the mail soon!

super easy to get comfortable then want to live epic moments from star wars D: hope you find it!

btw how stable did you find the eachine 250? i hear the walkera is more stable and smooth but overall i see people prefer the eachine 250?

I liked it. Downloaded Libra Pilot just and just starting to learning about pids. Watching youtube vids about different settings. Now that I have all this crap ( props, arms, charger, lipo sack) ill probably buy another and hope I find it someday.

Im sick about all the money i flushed down the toilet though. I also learned a lesson about getting too cocky and thinking I'm a better pilot then I actually am. I havent even had a major crash with it yet. Id rather that had happened then to lose the whole damn thing.

sorry man :( i can relate on a smaller scale, but i guess the risk of losing it all adds a little bit of spice to the hobby. i was definitely feeling it when i got too cocky with my x5c and next thing i knew i saw it just go up and up and up and way out sight, thought i lost it forever! but at the same time my unit was defective and would lose signal around 50 feet, so basically if you had the throttle up right before it lost signal, it would continue to jet ahead full throttle, which was REALLY annoying!

good news though since u have the transmitter and goggles, you can get an ARF eachine 250 for less than 200 bucks :D

That's what i was wondering. It will keep going even if it losses tx signal? It could be anywhere! I searched everywhere i thought it could have been. When i lost video, i cut throttle. I figure the video cut out before controller right? Also plan on getting a blue tooth locator, tile, cube, nut... Something like that. I listened for my low voltage buzzer, but it could have came off in the crash.

Im in Minnesota where the fields are all mud from melting. Theres a chance it crashed in a farm field so i plan on searching when it dries up.

cool man i am in minnesota too :D ? are u near rochester? we could go looking for it together! lol jk

from what i know, after they lose signal for like 5 seconds, they drop to the ground. i dont think its taking a trip to canada lol

Oh, and yes at least im only spending $200 to get back up. It stings and i feel sick about it, but im already invested. I just feel like a noob moron and embarassed that I was flying fpv with no spotter in a wooded area and no locator. I over estimated my ability and really didnt know the range of my equipment. Multiple noob mistakes all at once and now Im paying dearly for it.

don't be so hard on yourself, it's impossible to go through life doing everything perfectly.

Ha Ha! Thats good it cuts soon after. That shrinks my search area.

Im south of St Cloud. You can come search if you want. $100 reward if you find it. :).

I know, its fresh and stings. Ill get over it. Was a great day to fly today. I went back out searched for another couple hours. My wife laughed at me and then complained that I wasted/lost -about $360. It wasnt quite as funny after she thought about it.

There is a fail safe where if you lose TX signal it just shuts down and drops out of the sky so ,i doubt it just kept flying away...Im sure it fell in a tree someplace and didnt just keep flying away until it lost power.

Try a 1.2ghz fpv system..it penetrates trees and walls and you wont lose fpv so easily...5.8g is more for open areas

So I still have the monitor. If i buy 1.2ghz transmitter, will my monitor that cam with the racer 250 rtf kit work?

Since I lost the dang thing I was wondering about better fpv range.

Eachine I6.
You may have to unlock the Eachine i6 (can you get into the menus as is?)

Then setup some failsafes.

I think i can. Remeber the mode 1 mode 2 ordeal you helped me with? During that time i found a way to get into factory reset and open menu. I ordered another quad. Grrrrr.... But what else can I do. Its gone for now.

FWIW get one of these.

Good to have in general. But it may also help to find a lost quad as the the buzzer should continue to work till the battery drains.
Thanks, I had one of those on it. Im trying to determine the average vid range and search 360 out about the range of video. Any idea about how far the Rtf set up can go. I was in a small clearing flying circles over woods which after thinkng about it was really, really dumb for someone with my limited experience. After searching the direction I thought it was, i now realize i have a 360 search area from the point i was standing. As the OP title states: Im an idiot.
