Syma X8G Mods?

Hi gang, noob here. I got my first drone, a Symz X8G recently and have only flown it a handful of times, but I love it.

I'm interested in changing from the stock camera with the static mount to a gimbal of some sort.

I've seen videos about the Walkera G-2D (plastic, so it's lighter) and some other camera (maybe the Xiaomi Yi Action?). But I'm having trouble finding actual instructions or vids for DOING the mod.

I'm assuming that since the gimbal must be powered, that's why I have to change to some self-powered camera, since I can't power both the gimbal and the stock camera from the same battery, yes?

Also, I read something about replacing the stock landing gear with taller skids, but the taller skids are for the DJI Phantom.... do they actually fit on the Syma X8G or would I have to "make" them fit?

I have lots of questions, but I'll stop here and see what you guys think so far.

Thanks! :)

Are you having jello issues or not happy with the camera it came with?

I'm not sure what jello is, but I'm assuming it's vibrations... And no, I haven't noticed any problem there. And I love the camera quality. My problem is that the camera moves and tilts along with the quad. I'd really prefer to get smooth steady stable video, especially since I'm still new and not the best pilot.

Yes. You will have to pull a new power lead for it from inside the quad.
And that's where things get a little fuzzy. I see lots of advice about "what" to do, but nothing about "how" to do it. :) How does one "pull a new power lead" from inside the quad? I thought the power comes from the battery, which only has the one lead... I don't understand. :(

If you dont have the tools to solder with you can forget about doing alot of things in the hobby..Soldering is a must for modification and repairs which you will need to make eventually...The term "SOL" pretty much sums it up in your case if you dont care to invest in what you need to make repairs or mods...A soldering gun you can buy for $10.00 or less...it doesnt have to be some fancy soldering station.

I don't appreciate the immediate dismissal of me, simply because I was hoping I wouldn't have hack my quad up in order to add a gimbal. Taller skids apparently can be purchased (from a completely different make/model) without needing a drill press and a blow torch, so what's wrong with me asking and hoping there might also be a less-invasive option for adding a gimbal??

I never said I didn't care to invest in my hobby. I merely said I'd rather not risk bricking the first quad I ever bought, if I don't have to. Same reason I've never unlocked a cell phone.

I was hoping to find nice helpful folks here, but I was obviously wrong.

"Can"? Yes. "Have the tools and the desire"? No.

Is this my only option?

Exhibit A...doesnt have the tools nor has any desire to solder...Well Problem number 1 right there..YOU HAVE TO SOLDER to do what you want to do....so if you dont want to solder then guess what?..SOL...I nor anyone else im sure has a solution for you to get the extra power lead you will need to power your motorized gimbal unless you can solder...You can go to whatever site you want and youll get the same responses if you chose to respond how you did here...Best of luck on your project.

Just to explore the issue a bit more. Is there any point in having a gimbal that you can't control? FPV googles or something? Perhaps a controller with an additional channel?

I get the interest in having a gimbal, but the X8G also doesn't have any advanced flight controls like hover or autoflight (as least none that I've seen) it might not be the right platform for adding one?
