Syma X5C Clone newbie-bind?

Hi folks,
Newbie, just got my X5C CLONE and was surprised it didn't come with instruction, only a description of what the controls do on the transmitter (which was only posted on the ebay description)

My problem is I cannot seem to bind/sync the quad copter, which is usually transmitter on, copter on, throttle up and down. If I do this the copter just throttles up. So when I throttle it drifts back and to the left instead of straight up. I am trying this indoors in cramped space (winter here and windy) Is this how they all behave or should they go straight up with just throttle applied?

Thanks a lot.

Check to be sure all the trims are centered.

It will do that when it's close to the ground. It's riding on top of it's own prop wash. Pull it up 2-3 ft off the floor if it's still drifting back and to the left add a little forward trim & some right trim.

Thanks Gramps, that does seem to make a difference, I was flying low trying not to destroy it, but it did get a lot more stable once up. By trims do you mean the left side spring loaded joystick? That seems to self center. Flying inside my home isn't helping me much either (crap everywhere) Of course I'm also just getting use to the controller (FUN!)

Took it for its first flight today, was a blast almost lost it a river (by 2 yards) But gaining control. Don't know what trim adjust, or fine tuning is on my transmitter.

Trims are not the joystick. The 4 switches directly below and to the inside of your joysticks are your trim adjustments. For example, left/right movement of your right joystick makes your quad bank left/right. So if your quad is drifting left, push the switch below the joystick to the right and this should correct the drift to the left. The one on the inside of the right joystick adjusts forward/reverse drift. On the left, the inside one adjusts rotation (yaw) and the one below adjusts throttle.
