First time on forum, I have a Syma xc5-1. Used quite a few times. Quad lifts off ground then suddenly drops and flashes. and will do the same over and over. changed batteries and switched controller with neighbor for a test, still nothing. one of the motors seems to be week when I put resistance on it with finger. any help would be most appreciate. could this be the motor not letting this thing work properly or maybe the board.... maybe its happened to someone else before. the board looks a little difficult to solder if I dont have too. Thanks in advance.

The first thing I'd want to know is if in fact the batteries are coming off the charger at the correct >4.1V. The 'flashes' kinda seems like the low battery warning. Everyone needs a multimeter for this hobby.

All batteries are new and charged, i swopped batteries with my neighbors xc5-1 and Controller and either combination still will not work. Thank you for responding.

Where was the bad connection? I did full power it holding it still on the ground and it seems to run than stop at the same amount of time. could be bad connection though, just wondered where yours was.

I just armed it so the LED's were solid. When I wiggled the battery wires it went to flashing LED. It turned out to be a poor solder on the PDB

Great, thanks again. Hope that is problem. Will post results when I get a chance to look at it.
There was no loose connection. (Unfortunately ) one motor is very week. Could the bad motor make this happen Or would it just not fly properly? This just opened up a big can of questions i need to ask now. ..would it be in my best interest to replace all motors so they are same brand and are fresh? how would you attack this? Please correct my edicate if needed, I'm not sure if i should be posting. another question or can i keep this conversation going. Like i said this is new to me. I apologize. Thanks for your help.

If you have a motor you think is weak, I'd just replace that motor & try it again. I've replaced individual motors on mine from different dealers with no problems.

I thought the ones i bought were suppose to be a little better but that's what they are telling me. I figured i use a new so there is no difference in power or action. Would that bad motor make machine act like it does? ? Anyone familiar with this? I'm going to have a bunch of questions when it comes time to do this as far as clockwise and counter clockwise motors. Colors don't look like the match my old ones. Here we go again. What a process.i really appreciate you help.i take any help your offering.

Using a multimeter check the continuity of the power wires. Wiggle them and if you use continuity you could have a bad wire.

When replacing motors for the 1st time I replace all 4 and keep the good ones as spares. Also be sure to break your new motors in by running them for 3-4 minutes at a low speed checking for heat. If hot let them cool and continue.

That's great advice. I would break in my rc motors long ago. I figure to keep them matched and all new. That confirmed what my initial plan was going to be. Thank you so much. I wouldn't hurt to run a full battery at low speed for 10 minutes or so would it as long as they don't get above warm? Would it benefit to do this a few different times?

10 minutes wouldn't hurt but normally the battery won't last that long. Don't think doing multiple times would gain anything. I would/do fly easy for the 1st couple of batteries then let it rip.

Would a bad motor cause this problem? or would it not fly right? I didn't get that answer. has it happened to anyone before?

I've not had this happen, but it sounds like a bad motor could cause this.
If the motor has a short circuit in it, or on the circuit board, a large current draw could occur causing the flight board to go into protection mode and shut down. If I read correctly, you replaced the motors. Check all your solder joints on the board, inspect the motor's solder joints as well.
And as cheap as these motors are, buy another set of 4 and replace one at a time.
Good luck.

Thank you for responding. I did not change the motors yet. But I did just find out something new. When I power the unit up and give it some throttle the lights will flash and stop. When I bring the left controller down it reset automatically and I can slide on it up again but I get the same reaction. This time I followed it up with the right joystick in different positions. Bottom left, top left top right all make the light flash and shut down. When I hold the joystick down to the right I can throttle the Unit up and down and it will continuously run without cutting out I think I'm getting somewhere But not quite sure what this would mean. I'm guessing when I hold it to the bottom right I'm taking a lot of power away from one of the motors I'm just not quite sure which one it would be do you have any ideas I would change that one first. Thank you for helping this is very frustrating for me.

I did. But the v5 version is what i have. For the price wad not worth my frustration. Now its in small pieces..thanks again.
