Hello all;) So I'm looking at building this quad(x650f) and I need some help deciding on a flight controller. Now I know alot of you guys are gurus with this stuff, and I'm not, so I ask you be a bit easy describing the terminology ;) thanks. I was thinking of maybe putting in a gps failsafe but if that proved too difficult maybe an audible alarm. So you know a bit about me: I have a fpv 250 which is just insane speed wise but I'm looking for a larger quad that I can do whatever with. I'm looking to build a quad over the next few weeks and I want to include some of the bells and whistles my 250 doesn't have. All I have is the frame so far so anything is possible. I'll add that I'm running a Radiolink at9 so you know. I'd appreciate any input, and thanks for your time in responding.

Well 650 is rather big and it's going to be a chore getting it to a big area to fly. And it will be more expensive to build.

ringolong and others seem to like these (I think).

Tarot ZYX-M Flight Controller & GPS

Seems like you will like this.
Comprehensive Consideration for Fling Safety
The ZYX-M flight controller supports fail safe and voice alarm, including range setting and no-fly zone alarm. It just keeps your aircraft be safe during flights.

I think the Tarot ZYX-M is a great controller. There have been reports about throttle being dropped below 10% during flight could stop the motors. I never experienced this, but thought I should put it out on the table. Everyone just adjust their radios to not go below 10% during flight.

DJI Naza Lite (flashed with v2 firmware) less than $170 new, $100ish used.
DJI Naza V2 less than $300, $200ish used.

Both of these are awesome flight controllers. The lite flashed with v2 firmware will function same as the v2 except it will take longer to warm up, and you will need to block the light from hitting the barometer side.(black tape works)

These have GPS for position hold, return to home, failsafe return to home. The only thing they do not have is elevation adjustment for the failsafe, but there are other flight controllers that do.

I wish I could tell you more about the 3dr flight controllers, but I have never had one. I think they are a little more difficult to setup.

Thanks for the replies guys. It's actually only 550mm cxc diag. That does look like a sweet controller. All kinds a goodies there. That'll probably be the one. Love the gps. Thanks again

  • Yeah Jackson I sure did. Works like a charm. Wanna say thanks for yours and Ringolong's input. I really appreciate any advice I can get. Test flight went perfect and I'm very pleased. My Only snafu is I cant get my satellite receivers to bind. Spectrum 9645 to my FC. drone 2.jpg

Looks great! We are ready to see some video:D

Don't forget to set your radio up where it will not allow you go lower than 10% throttle during flight just to be on the safe side.

Yup my throttle end points are adjusted. I'll definitely post footage when the weather gets a little better here in Connecticut. I've got a Runcam fpv camera up front and I'll hang my Mobius under that.
