Accessories for Syma X5C-1

Hi Folks after much reading on this forum I'm about to dip my toe in the water and purchase my first quadcopter. I'm looking at ordering an Syma X5c-1 but I'm looking for advice on what accessories to purchase alongside. I already have AA NiMH rechargeable batteries and charger but that's it. Below are the additional items that I was considering

- Spare propellers
- Spare batteries
- 4 button lipo Charger

As i'm in the UK can anyone supply any links for the above products or in fact any additional items that you think I should consider to enjoy this hobby?

Thanks

Daz

imho...yes, yes, and yes. the stock batteries aren't that good and take forever with one charger. I think they have a package wi a multi charger and several batteries.
spare props are very cheap.
Consider buying the little white gear that goes on the prop shaft. I lost one and was grounded ten days waiting for another.
my personal pref would be Amazon UK (I'm not affiliated) as you can verify in-country in-stock. drop-ship from the Orient saves money but takes a long time with iffy results.
(not to lecture, but remember to rest your unit between batteries so the little motors won't burn out)
if you has soldering skills consider buying spare motors. more experienced quadders tell me that motor burnout is the most likely cause of unit failure (aside of course from losing in the wind, splashing, ramming trees, etc.)
good luck & keep us posted.

Not all toys like rechargeable batteries due the lower total voltage. With the Syma you may be taking range hit.

reg bats do seem to have a little more juice, at least short term. Since I sometimes store my units for a week or two (weather) I use alks. would totally suck to lose a unit from control unit failure.
personally I don't think I fly mine far enough for it to be an issue.

Many thanks for the responses. I've been considering purchasing a few Turnigy NanoTech 750 mah batteries to start off with (unless advised otherwise) but I'm struggling with what charger to get. Any thoughts?

I read over on rcgroups forum about a 750 man battery but you will have to reverse the leads on the plug.

When you look up the X5C 1 on amazon be sure to order the new 2015 version. If you tab down toward the description you will see where you can order the quad, extra props and 4 680mah batteries with charger. The batteries are great and fit perfectly with no mods. The charger is crap and will eventually ruin your batteries. I just got a HItec micro multi charger #44212, also from amazon. It is a 4 port adjustable (1s) single cell charger. Works great and is sure to extend the life of your batteries.
I didn't list any links because I can't access amazon UK. You sound like a smart guy, you'll figure it out.:D
Happy flying!

That is the one I got last week, I bought some Muder 680 man batteries & a cheap no name charger that looks just like the one by Holy Stone, it's working but I probably need a better one like the HItec. Don't think you can go wrong getting ghr x5c-1

Yeah. That little 4 port hockey puck was undercharging on 3 ports and overcharging on the 4th. With The HItec I can now treat my 1s batteries like I do my multi cell. It's great to be able to charge them all to the same voltage. I can also measure the remaining voltage in each and determine the health of each. I can also charge or discharge each battery to 50% for storage.
I was only getting about 20 cycles or so out of my 1s batteries before they would start deterioating. It will be interesting to see how much longer they last with the new charger.

I just bought a Blade Nano QX to fly around the house during the winter and hone my skills. It to uses a 1 cell LiPo battery but with a different end so my hockey puck charger won't work on it. Then in spring I want to get something like the Syma 8c or 8g which uses 2 cell LiPos I think. There's so much out there it gets really confusing.

What are you using to check the voltage of your packs before and after use, a multimeter or is there something better?

My antique computer crashed Sunday and I replaced it with an Apple. I haven't figured out how to send links to web sights yet so all I can do right now is describe stuff. I have a class later. Computers and I just don't get along!
Jump on Amazon and search for "Lipo battery tester". You will find a little tester about the size of an ESC that you plug the LiPo balance plug into or, on a 1s, the connector. About $9.00. The HItec X4 one cell charger I bought also gives me battery condition as well. I can label my batteries and charge them at different rates to bring them to optimum. For 2s to 6s batteries I have two IMAX BB6AC and a HItec X1. They work well for 2s and ok for 3s but you can read a novel while charging a 4s battery. I can't imagine them on a 6s. I really need to quit screwing around and buy a good multi charger. I bought these early on without considering that I would build larger, power hungry quads down the road. They are ok little chargers and I will continue to use them but, I could have bought a single, good, multi charger for just a little more. It never pays to to not buy the best tools.
One more thing. Now that I have the HItec X4 I have been only charging my batteries to 50% after I finish flying because it is usually a few days before I will fly my X5 again. When I'm going to take it out I plug the 4 batteries in and they are ready to go in 10-15 minutes. This SHOULD prolong the battery life significantly. I hope. Haha!

Most of the time if I want to copy / paste things I use the keyboard.
Ctl c to copy
Ctl v to paste
For me this is faster than using a mouse.
Ctl a will highlight so if you put the visor in the address bar of the browser and press Ctrl a, then Ctrl c, go to the post place the cursor where you want the link Ctrl v that's it. Not an Apple guy but I think it will work on Apple too.

End of computer lesson, back to discussing quads.

Was reading and looking at chargers last night and put a Skyrc Original Imax B6 Mini Digital Balance Charger for RC Helicopter Car Toys Quadcopter Lipo Nimh Battery with Power Supply https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00S69SBRQ/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_OBjtwbSV0HZFY in the cart along with the Paraboard - Parallel Charging Board for Blade mCP X and mCX/mSR/Proto X Lipos https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DCFFK2S/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_wWjtwb9DPS4DS if I'm reading right it should charge my current 1 cell LiPos and be able to up to 6 cells in the future. All this is going to run $57 which is about what I paid for the x5c-1. : -) If all your current chargers died what would you replace them with?

If I had to buy a charger right now for 2s-6s I would get the HItec X4 AC/DC multi port charger #44167. If I had time I would probably get something else like a Graupner or Venom or similar for up to 8 cells and higher wattage.

I'm off to Apple class. I'm like the guy Sam Neil played in Jurassic Park. Computers, FCB's, Tx's you name it and I can zap it. That's why all my quad stuff is as close to plug and play as possible. I'm hopeless with that stuff.

Little bit out of my price range at this time. I went ahead and ordered the Inadequate B6 Mini and parallel board to see how it's going to work for now. Returning the hockey puck charger, the connector got stuck in one of the ports today. Finally got it loose, was scary for a bit.

The B6 Mini is a big step up from the puck. You can probably get an adapter to charge more than one 1s battery at a time. The little tester/alarm I was talking about was shown below it.
