Hi everybody, I just purchased an GPtoys Aviax. Don't know why, but I think I will enjoy it. Hopefully I will learn a lot on this forum and perhaps I may be looking for an upgrade in a few months.

The Aviax was poor so I went for something a little bit better. Phantom 3 4K with two batteries, hard case and controller (due to be delivered tomorrow). I am probably mad but I had a load of Nikon photographic equipment sitting in my cupboard which I had not used for about 18 months so I thought that little lot could fund my new hobby. My good lady is buying me an iPad mini 2 wifi and cellular. I never go into things half heartedly. Yes I think I am mad.

Hahaha, we are all mad here. I do think you will find the Phantom a little bit better hahaha.

I thought that perhaps it was made of gold when I started looking at prices but you get what you pay for. I have spent the last 9 or ten days just absorbing as much information as I can. I will keep this thread up to date with my progress.

Hi mate your love the Phantom but please make sure you set up right and calibrate the compass when you fly so the fail safes will work right

If you cant get the full 7+ GPS lock move the phantom a few feet it some times takes a min or so to find the lock , if you get any Red leds on set up dont fly in any mode other than manual , another strange thing if you fly in IOC mode and fly the phantom behind you the control work backwards , this made my wife nearly crash it so she now does not fly behind her

So it flips the controls?

Hi George IOC is the Intelligent orientation control so when you fly in this mode forward on the cyclic is always forward on the Phantom ( no matter which way its facing) ,but once you fly behind you turn around to keep flying but now the transmitter is facing backwards ( this is what the IOC thinks ) so all the controls are now back to front if you could just turn your head like an owl and keep transmitter facing forward it will be ok
Now you can get round this by using Home lock this puts a bubble of 10 feet or so around you so if you keep facing forward and Phantom is behind you , push cyclic forward the Phantom will fly up behind you and as it hits the bubble it will fly an arc around you till its back in front of you
This is why the Naza M FCB is not cheap it has loads of help aids
HL= home lock
Cl= course lock
GPS= Full GPS lock
Atti =Altitude hold but it will drift as there is no GPS but it will keep height
Atti= this second one is program set to what ever you want , manual mode / failsafe

Hahahaha, you'd think they'd modify their problem to allow for that xD.
