Will my TX battery support 40 minutes of flight time?

Several pilots of the Hubsan H501S have reported flight times of 20 minutes and more on YouTube and on Amazon reviews from the stock 2700 mAh lipo battery.

I'm ordering another flight battery to give me a total of 40 minutes or more in the field.

Will the stock 1300 mAh lipo in the TX support 40 minutes of flight time or should I buy another TX battery too?

From my limited experience, quadcopters have one battery designed for it and usually run on the time estimated for that battery. To get double the flight time will mean landing and changing out the spent battery for a fresh one. Adding a second battery to the quadcopter doubles the weight, affects the lifting and stability of the quad's flight characteristics.

I had no intention of adding a second battery to the quad!

I just wanted to know if the TX battery will support double the flight time, after changing the depleted flight battery for a fresh one.

Sorry, I misunderstood. You wanted it for the transmitter then. I guess it depends on how much current the transmitter draws upon. Perhaps someone else, like Jackson, can help you.

Actually, I wanted a second battery for both the Quad and the Transmitter, if the TX couldn't support 40 minutes of flight time. I already ordered a second battery for the Quad.

What I heard in the past involves FPV monitoring on the TX. FPV uses an enormous amount of power for the screen. I have heard that on some models a fresh battery pack often will not last for multiple (more than two) flights, so spare TX batteries are prudent. But that's what I've heard on this and other forums.

That's what I thought, LoneRCRanger, so I'm buying a bigger pack that won't fit in the TX battery compartment, and will attach it to the back of the TX.

One of the Quad Reviewers did this, using a 2000 MAH lipo, attaching it with velcro.

Hiya, I've bought one extra TX li-po battery and two extra quad batteries. I have found that whenmy quad has exhausted its original battery, the TX still has around 50% power so I'm working on teh assumption that I will get 2 flights from one TX li-po battery but I've not put this to the test yet. I'm going to give it a try next week and will let you know how I get on.

Quad reviewer HungryDan has fastened a 2000 MAH lipo to the back of his Hubsan H501S Transmitter.

He says he can get almost 10 flights with this battery. (I think that's an exaggeration, but it can certainly provide for more than 2 flights!)

This is what I'm going to do; I've already ordered the bigger battery.

Hopefully you are pleasantly surprised. Different quad, but my new controller has a 2900mah battery.
Yesterday, I flew almost an hour on 3 batteries in the quad and the remote indicated 74% battery level when done.

One sure fire way to extend your TX's operation indefinitely is hooking it up to the grid. Of course, the extension cord might be a bit on the 'LONG' side. Hee! Hee!

That's what I'm hoping for. Obviously I'll test it at capacity next week, full FPV and recording and lots of speed so I can get the "worst case" usage and will post the results
