When do I get a new battery?

Hey guys,

How do I know when to get new batteries for my Syma x8c? And when I do replace it, witch ones should I get?

  1. Periodically check your flight times, and if you start to notice a consistent decrease in flight time, it's time to replace them
  2. If you see any sign of "puffing" or swelling, definitely replace them
You can find replacement batteries all over the place for that quad. Amazon is an option, just search for "Syma X8C battery". The stock batteries are 2200 mah, but I think if you hunt a bit you can find 2500 mah replacements that might get you a little increase in flight time. Are you charging them with a hobby grade charger, or just the charger that came with the quad? A hobby grade balance charger is a very good investment that you should consider if you don't have one.

I am getting about 6-7 minute flight times and when I first got the quad It was doing 13 flight times.

What will happen if I keep using it after it starts swelling? Mine are starting to swell.

I am using the charger that came with the quad and is take 3 hours to charge one battery.:mad: Is there any hobby grade balance chargers that you recommend?

Normally if they swell, you are pushing them. Heat build up in the lipo is not good.heat stretches the plastic & the acid is unevenly distributed around the cells. Ppl may assume you can't push the esc for more than 10 sec @ max throttle but it's the lipo also. This leads to voltage sag. Soon enough you will punch out or give it some stick & there may not be enough to power all the components.
Leading G to a fatal crash.

Go ahead and just "Bite the bullet" for this item, trust me, you WANT a good quality charger.
The difference in cost (vs a cheaper one) will be more than made up for by the increased longevity of your battery packs. ;)

I got 3 well 4, SDT90 & 2 imax.
I like to go out with loads of Lipo's.
But like gyro doc says, some things you don't want to scrimp on.
Lipo's are a definite do not scrimp on.
Im still testing different ones out & tattu & turnigy are my goto.

Zippy compact are good to i use these on a 630 Goblin 3d heli and they never miss a beat Turnigy nanotec last well too i still have one that's 5 years old and had 1000s of flights it's just started to puff
The most important thing is look after your Lipos and a good charger care for them
Yes but only if the battery says on it what i mean is it will say it's C rate for flight and one for charge some will charge 4 times faster than there flight C rate

Can the IMAX B6 charger charge more thanks one battery at a time? I will probably buy a pack of 3 or 5 for my x8c.

There is a saying in the RC hobby it's goes ,"buy cheap buy twice " and it's true you may save a little at first but it won't last

Yes just get a parallel charging board with the plugs that match your battery , also parallel charging battery will still depend on how many you want charge at once and the max amp output from the charger
