What Did You 3D Print Today?

Chainmail...… what a "strange" name. What has "mail" got to do with this subject??

It is amazing to have hundreds of tiny bit of pieces link together and yet each piece moves independently.
How does a 3D printer manage to produce such a feat?

I would like to know how do you like your new 3D printer.
Was it a Monoprice Maker Ultimate ?
Do you need to do a lot of "mod" ?
Would it have worked nicely with Cura settings as default?

I have the Monoprice Maker Select Plus. I've done lots of mods but quite honestly, not a lot of them are "necessary". There are lots of guys who talk about owning one for 2-3 years with no mods and still going strong. And yes, I use basically Cura generic PLA and PETG settings with just small tweaks with the retraction and temperature settings

The reason I asked is that I am getting a bit annoyed by the Ender 3, most particularly I have to do bed leveling more often than I care to tolerate. I do have s new set of springs installed only 3 months ago, plus a glass plate on top. Then the damn extruder gear is worn out. I have to buy a new one. Maybe a double gear version. There are other operating quirks that are hard to comprehend. The only way to fix them was to shut it down for a while, turn it back on > do a bed-leveling > then it would be back to normal...…. for a while.
Maybe it was "over-worked".

Bl-touch is totally worth adding in my opinion. Getting all the right flags flipped in the marlin config to get it working properly and initial wiring can be kind of a pain depending on the controller board for the printer but once working you basically never have to level the bed, it can just self correct with minor z adjustments using mesh bed levelling, works very well in my experience.

Trouble is...… I don't have that kind of knowledge. I was not trained as an engineer, and until 5,6 months ago, I never set an eye on a 3D printer. Didn't even know how it looked like.
 
There's a lot of vids out there but can't lie it takes some tinkering sometimes and guesswork to get things working sometimes, that said if using ender or other popular printer likely a guide on YouTube for it too (very popular upgrade since bed levelling gets old eventually), took me about a year before deciding it was worth getting auto bed levelling.

Hi, I have auto level on my Ender 3 from Uptanium. Has worked flawlessly for over 3 years. Uptanium.org check it out.

My other printer is a Anycubic Mega S. I did the leveling once after assembling it, and never have to do it again. That's 4 months ago.
My point? If Mega S can maintain its bed leveling, why can't Ender 3?

one issue could be the adjuster wheels threads a warn from dust etc. they are soft metal, maybe use some thread locker that maybe all you need.
